Had a fun weekend in Athens this past week. Spent most of Friday going back and forth on gearing and different things. But since the Friday mains got pushed to Saturday morning we were able to make a decision. Definitely felt good on both bikes. 1st off with the Heavy Weight class, was able to take 1st in both mains, even after trying to take off in neutral. The 30+ we did solid. Had to start on the back row in 1st main because of bike issue in heat, and got 2nd by about 6 inches, give or take. 2nd main, I little tired, was happy to take 2nd. I also rode Open Am. Finished 4th and 3rd. Definitely had some speed but kept getting to far behind on the first lap and had to work on making that up before passing. All in all, was a great weekend and to end it with a Pulled Pork Sandwich Meal......cannot be topped.

A few weekends to recap.
Weekend 1 was a race in Ashland during Vintage Days. Very much enjoyed the track. I rode 30+, 80's 750cc, and Hot Rod Singles. Had pretty decent heat races that put me in good positions for the Mains. Definitely think I could have rode better in the mains than I did, but I still podiumed in all 3. 1st in 750, 2nd in Hot Rod, and a 3rd in 30+. Its more exciting to check all the boxes instead of just 3 1st places right?

Next race we had at Harpster. We for sure had our ups and downs there. Raced the 30+ and Heavy Vintage as usual. Had a solid heat in the Vintage and for the main was able to get the lead and run away for the win. For the 30+, I must not have felt like racing the Honda, so I blew it up in the 1st lap of the heat race. This put me in the back row for the main on our backup bike that I hadn't put a lap in with. But, the Yamaha ran quite well in the Main, unfortunately probably had the wrong gearing, but finished 3rd. So, that's a win in my bike.

Got our original Yamaha back a couple weeks ago and got some practice on it the last few weeks, ready to finish the year going fast.

This last weekend was unfortunately a bust. Went to Bellefontaine on Friday, the weather was playing with us. But, actually during practice the track was coming together very well. Set up to be a great track to race. Mother Nature decided to let loose a little too hard though and ended the day. Also, cancelling both races the next day. We did get some nice pictures from BTP Photography over the weekend though from Van Wert races, so that was a plus.

Might try to head over to Ashland this Saturday for Vintage Days and then I believe back to Harpster for some Half-Mile racing.

I would say Van Wert was a pretty good success. Rode the Heavy Vintage and 30+ as normal. Bikes felt great all day and the track was awesome, or at least the bikes really loved the track. Swept 1st in all heats and Mains. Been feeling better each week on both bikes and it all definitely came together Saturday. Hopefully we can keep carrying the momentum for the rest of the season. Bellefontaine tomorrow and we will see what the dreaded weather decides to do after that.

A couple races to highlight.

Went up to Midland Michigan a few weekends. Lovely drive with all the construction, recommend if you love bouncy off your seat. Rode the 25+ and Open Vintage, both with cash on the line. Little did I know how good the competition in both was, setting times as fast as or even quicker than some pro riders. Was somewhere middle back of the pack for 25+ but qualified 4th for Vintage. Heat for 25+ was okay, finished maybe 4th. Vintage was not as good as it should've been with how qualify went and finished 3rd in 1 of 3 heats in the class. Unfortunately, that is when the rain blew in and ended the night. Actually felt great on both bikes. Was looking forward to the mains to see what I could do, more the Vintage than the 25+, but that's racing.

The following week was Lima. Mother Nature was just as friendly, turned our Thursday into a really long day. Rode 30+ and Heavy Vintage. There was only 1 other rider in the 30+ and he was very intimidated to see his competition so he ended up backing out. So I got the 30+ and no matter what anyone says I will say I am 1 and 0 against Cory Texter. I did get to have fun with the 40+ and Hooligan class though which was nice. As for the Vintage, I was 2nd in qualify, heats, and Main. I put on a good charge but ran out of energy to take the win.

Both tracks were fantastic. On to Van Wert tomorrow and Bellefontaine next week. As always, couldn't be here without my sponsors.

Life has definitely kept me busy the last month. But I have an update on my last 2 races.

Raced at Harpster a few weeks ago. Ran Heavy Vintage and 30+ classes. Had some close racing in the Vintage class, made a last lap pass to take the lead and 1st place. The 30+ was chosen as the Triple Crown race, so 3 main events. And I needed all 3. Struggled with grip on the 450 and took 4th in the 1st main. Was able to make adjustments to get just enough better to get 3rd in the other 2 mains, so a 3rd overall and a little bit of change to go with it.

Last weekend rode the RPM Shelbyville Half-Mile. Again, Heavy Vintage and 30+. Ran decent in practice, but struggled more than I wanted to in the heats. Had a very hard battle in the Heavy Main. Was able to work my way to 1st and hold on for the win. Unfortunately, there was only 1 race between my 30+ Main and I was gassed. Wasn't riding the 450 how I should've, finished maybe 7th or 8th. Oh well I guess.

Next stop Midland, hoping to come back home with a little bit of Michigan money.

We are set up here at Circleville for the half-mile. Got the Rotax back, so it will get its first action of the year.

Realized I forget to update on Lima race. Probably because of disappointing finish. Felt great in practice, but seemed like i got worse through the night. Qualified for Open Am main thru lcq, but both mains didn't go too well. But, we're going to change that today.

Last week at Bellefontaine was the 1st race of the season. It was a good start to the season. Saturday I felt good most of the day. I had to try and get comfortable on 2 new bikes. I was able to finish 1st in my 30+ class, and unfortunately my rear tire decided to not grip anything for the Open Am main but, I was happy to settle for 5th or 6th.

Sunday things felt okay but not as great as Saturday.....I must be getting old. I was able to repeat my 1st place performance in the 30+ and lets just ignore how the Open Am went....again I was tired.

So, solid opener to the season, still some work to do. On to Lima this Saturday. Thanks to the sponsors this year.
