Considering its present prestige and reputation, Greensboro Country Club had a most humble origin. The year was 1909 and golf was a game that interested very few men and no women. McAlister opened up a five-hole pitch and putt course on the northwest corner of Summit Avenue and Dewey Street south of St. McAlister’s “Club” and anyone could play free of charge. Those first hardy golfers 105 years ag

o hung their jackets on the limbs of a young water oak tree before teeing off. Some referred to the tree as "The Club House." Two years later the first clubhouse was built which was located a few steps from the water oak tree and cost the magnificent sum of $500.00. Our current main Clubhouse located on Sunset Drive was built in 1975 and is nestled in the heart of Irving Park. In 1969, Greensboro Country Club merged with the Carlson Farm Country Club and added many additional offerings for the membership including another 18-hole golf course, swimming pool and additional tennis courts. The Farm clubhouse which was constructed in 1975 after fire destroyed the original, was redesigned and was constructed in 2001. Our members enjoy two 18-hole golf courses, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, a state of the art fitness facility, two swimming pools and several dining locations. Whether our members are looking for fine dining or a casual night out, our restaurants provide an unforgettable dining experience. Greensboro Country Club serves its member families providing them with a place of leisure, lasting friendships, and unforgettable memories that will last a lifetime.

The Pin Seekers had a dominant summer season, finishing 7-2 in the regular season, led by first-year captains Grant Cacace and Ben Pearce. After months of exciting competition, The Pin Seekers proved to be the team to beat and earned the honor of being crowned the 2026 Captain’s Cup Champions!

GCC’s 2026 Junior Club Championship was filled with unforgettable moments, lasting friendships, and incredible competition. From outstanding golf and exceptional sportsmanship to fun press conferences, a fishing tournament, and plenty of smiles, our junior golfers made the most of an amazing week. Congratulations to all of our participants - we're already looking forward to next year's Championship!

Congratulations to the 2026 Match Play Champion, Henry Fortney, and to the 2026 Junior Stroke Play Champion, Jack Strickland! Jack had rounds of 66-69 for a 7-under par two-day total. As you can see, the 44L Champion’s Jacket is the perfect fit, and Jack has the honor of keeping it until next year’s tournament! Congratulations are also in order for our other division winners:

The 2026 GCC Junior Club Championship started Monday, July 27 with our junior golfers off to a great start! ⛳ The Quarterfinal and Semifinal matches showcased the growing confidence of our junior golfers as they developed their skills and deepened their love for the game. One of the best parts of this championship is seeing friends and siblings serve as caddies, cheering them on every step of the way. 100 drones. One unforgettable night.

As part of a private event at Greensboro Country Club last week, the evening sky became a canvas for an incredible drone show featuring 100 coordinated drones creating a series of stunning designs above our Club.

With a number of dazzling formations, each moment was a showstopper - but our favorite just might have been the outline of the great state of North Carolina shining brightly overhead.

A memorable experience, a beautiful summer evening, and a reminder that some celebrations truly light up the sky.
