A 25-Year Letter to Our Members
It’s hard to believe we’ve been here 25 years. On April 28, 2001 we opened our doors at 7am. It was a Saturday. Robin and I had worked through the night with the help of a few others doing our last-minute punch list. It was a very busy day, but we never got tired. We sold about 50 memberships that day. We had no clue about our future, only that we sold our house to make this happen, and it was going to be sink or swim.
Perhaps the most significant thing we didn’t realize at the time was the unique community that was beginning to take shape. Sure, a gym is, or should be, a positive environment. And people who are dedicated to staying healthy are generally the happiest people, but I’ve been to a lot of gyms over the years, and I’ve never seen or experienced one with an environment quite like ours. I know that sounds boastful, and it would be if Robin and I thought we were the reason for it, but we’re not. If we were to take any credit, it would have to be shared with our staff, especially Bob & Shelley who have been with the gym the entire 25 years and Carlyn, who’s been helping and entertaining us for many years as well. Then there’s the rest of the crew--Madi, Morgan, Jill, and Dany (welcome back!)--all flawless! Lastly, there’s Ava, who, with Madi’s help, is doing an exceptional job pioneering our social media.
Back to the point, it’s the members, the people, who make up any community. Our deepest gratitude goes to those 40+ members who have been with us since the beginning. You, along with so many other long-time members, are not only the foundation for the environment we have, but your constant presence has served to preserve it. You’ve stuck with us through the bad times, and believe us, when things were uncertain, your support meant a lot!
We are grateful also to all the members who have joined us in recent years. You all have the option of paying less elsewhere. We appreciate that you recognize the value of our gym, especially the younger crowd. You are our future, and we look forward to it with measurably less anxiety thanks to your support.
Lastly, knowing that some of you may not agree, Robin and I give our deepest gratitude to our Creator, who gave us peace and direction during our most anxious times. He has our deepest love and respect.
It’s true that wealth comes in many forms. For me and Robin, it’s in the friendships and comradery that we see amongst the members and experience for ourselves. We certainly love what we do. We love the positive environment and the community that all of you have helped to create, and we thank you truly and sincerely.
Here’s to the future!
Sean & Robin
