Guardian Firearms Academy

Guardian Firearms Academy Guardian Fi****ms Academy is a training group that teaches skills in the use of fi****ms for self defense. Baugh

“Training good people, to be bad victims”

One of my true joys in life has been my time spent on a gun range. First with my father as he taught me the respect that all fi****ms require and how to correctly practice, then as a great way to meet some of the best people in the world, “shooters”. I have made some lifetime friends from attending responsible firearm shooting schools and competitions. I

t is my hope that you will attend a class, and see for yourself that a day of organized fi****ms training is better than a day of reading gun magazines and contemplating what you would do if your life is placed in jeopardy.

“Better to spend two days in training preparing for something that may never happen, than two seconds in a situation with no skills to handle it.”

Let me give you the shooting skills and thought process needed to defend yourself and home from those who would plan to harm you or yours. My classes are small in participant size, so that each student gets the proper instruction time needed.

“Train as if your life depended on it”

The Guardian Fi****ms Academy is training based in the use of fi****ms for defensive purposes. The range we will be using is located in Greencastle Indiana at the Jim Baugh Memorial Fi****ms Range.

“See you on the range”

At the completion of this course, you will be better prepared to defend yourself and family with a pistol from your person or while in your home. You should have a working knowledge of the handgun before this class. This class has a high round count, and the student should be ready to be physically active for the entire class.

This is all true. Use what works for you. See you on the range!

This is all true.

Use what works for you.

See you on the range!

Before Red Dots… Before Isosceles… There Was a Deputy Who “Looked Stupid.”

In the 1950s, most pistol shooting fell into two camps:

• One-handed bullseye shooting
• Point shooting from the hip

Neither looked much like a real gunfight.

Then in 1959, an L.A. County Sheriff’s deputy showed up to a “Leatherslap” quick-draw match and did something different.

He used two hands.

He brought the gun up high enough to actually see the sights.

And he beat everyone.

His name was Jack Weaver.

At first, people laughed at him. The stance “didn’t look right.” Even his supervisors questioned it. The NRA rulebook said pistols were shot one-handed. Tradition said one thing. Results said another.

Weaver didn’t invent his stance from a textbook. He didn’t copy a European duelist or a competition champion. He experimented. He raised the gun just a little higher. Dropped his head slightly. Got a flash sight picture. Used tension between both hands to control recoil.

And suddenly, he wasn’t just fast.

He was accurate.

That combination changed everything.

A young Marine officer named Jeff Cooper took notice. He studied it, refined it, and helped build what became the “Modern Technique of the Pistol.” The Weaver Stance spread through law enforcement, competitive shooting, and defensive training worldwide.

For decades, gun writers debated Weaver vs. Isosceles.

But here’s what matters most:

The stance wasn’t about dogma.
It was about solving a problem.

How do you hit what matters — quickly — under pressure?

Weaver’s answer was simple:
Use both hands. See the sights. Stand in a balanced, fighting-ready position.

Today, we argue about optics, grip angles, slide cuts, and dot size.

Back then, they argued about whether you should even use two hands.

Progress always looks strange at first.

If you care about where modern defensive pistolcraft really began — and the quiet deputy who changed it — you need to read the full write-up by Jerry Clough over at American Handgunner. It’s a story worth knowing.

Ammo Count: 300 rounds, Lebanon, Indiana
from 8am-5pm (This class has always filled early, only a deposit will hold your spot) Lebanon, Indiana

Class Description:
This class will be geared toward the responsible citizen or officer who has already received training with the standard AR15 rifle and is now wanting training directives and qualification with a low powered scoped AR15 type platform of rifle. The range of engagements and qualification will be 15-200 yards. This is not an introduction to the AR, please have a working knowledge of the platform before attending.

Course Objectives:
• DM weapons system abilities and limitations.
• DM optics fundamentals and zeroing.
• Understanding of Your external ballistics and range factors.
• Supported and unsupported shooting positions for qualification.
• Range estimation in the field.

*This is a 9 hour class, we have planned to get the most out a full training day with your scoped rifle. Come spend a great day of running that scoped AR (America's Rifle).

Equipment Requirements:
AR type rifle in any centerfire caliber capable of 1.5 inch groups at 100 yards. Magnified optic mounted securely on a flattop upper (I would recommend variable power under 10x with no external turrets or adjustable objective, not a sniper class). A bipod mounted to the forearm of the rifle. Sling and at least (2) 20 round and (1) 30 round magazines. Clothing for the climate including headgear. Eye and ear protection. Snacks and water on the range. Note taking material. 300 rounds of quality ammo. Hours are LETB certified.

And the weather should be fantastic!

This is by far our most requested class and has provided the most repeat offenders. That's a good thing with fi****ms instruction.
