It’s strange to not be headed to the race track on Saturday night. Unfortunately we expired a motor last weekend and while Jesse and Blake Vermillion have graciously offered us a motor to finish out the last 3 nights I feel it’s better to just start the tear down process. I think with a well focused off season we can get the primary car, back up chassis, and motors where we need them for next year. I would like to say thank you to everyone whose hopped on board and stayed in board for this season.

Nothing is perfect. Parts fail, the unthinkable or unpredictable happens. The only thing you can do is try to prepare the best you can for the worst. I’ve ran fire suppression all the way up to last year and I bought the kit and accidentally set it off in the garage…. 500 dollar mistake and then I got lazy and haven’t sent it off to get it recharged. On top of that I’ve been racing with some “holy” gloves. What happened Friday is my worst fear in racing. Sadly, sometimes in order to learn something bad has to happen. Well, before we hit the track again we will be better prepared for something you hope you never need. Credit to Tom Kelly for the last photo.

We ventured out to Circle City to test the new motor today. Dad and I normally don’t work in the pits together. He flags and I race but today was a memory I’ll cherish for a life time. We didn’t have much speed but it was due to the driver not the car. We lost set blocks, found the set up blocks. Lost a ratchet though and she’s gone so we’ll have to pick one of those up. Little before and after. I thought maybe we would be more of a mess than what we were. The dream team put together the best finish I’ve had in a sprint car and ran 8th. Hopefully we’ll build off this and keep finding small bits of speed each week. Honestly if we make the show and load it up. We’ve won. On to next week my friends. Hopefully with some of the other crew members. I’m too old and fat to do that anymore.

Late start on maintenance this week. Couple engine swaps later we should be up and running Saturday night at Lincoln Park Speedway. Hopefully keep adjusting Biscuit and get it a little more comfortable and find some speed.
