Summer Crest

Summer Crest This is the official Summer Crest page! Ridgetop. At that time there were 8 clay tennis courts, among other outdoor sports, for summer activities.

Summer Crest Tennis and Recreation Club is an effort to reclaim the orginal beginnings of the small town of Ridgetop, TN. a small town located at the top of the ridge 7 miles North of Nashville, was a summer resort at the turn of the 19th century. Wealthy citizens from Nashville built summer homes on the ridge, most built with large verandas, to enjoy the cooler temperatures found at the top of th

e ridge. Summer Crest seeks to capture that allure of a summer resort found with Ridgetop's origination. It is located at 1029 Lennox Ave in Ridgetop at the former home of Joe A. Overton, now the home of Wilson and Elizabeth Webb. The former Overton Home was renovated by Joe Overton in 1948. The original home was built in 1836. Originally it had 140 acres and now has 12 1/2 acres. There are 4 tennis courts behind the historical home with gardens located between the 4 courts. There are 3 hard courts and 1 clay court. There is a wooded walking trail around the 12 acres, a barn with a ping pong table in the loft, a basket ball goal, plenty of parking area and room for bike riding. To be a member of Summer Crest Association, you must pay $100 a year per family for dues. Non-members are allowed on the property but the fees for various events are higher. Here at Summer Crest, Tennis Lessons, Clinics, Camps, and Leagues are offered. Summer Crest members gather for 2 or 3 gatherings a year. Come on over and experience an old fashioned summer resort at Summer Crest...
