Public Lands Day Volunteer Opportunity!

Celebrate public lands day on Saturday, September 26th by joining TU and BLM on a restoration project south of Mountain View, WY. Hey everyone they are doing volunteer closures and down time for fishing in the Green! The weather is getting hot as we all know and this is to help keep our favorite waters safe!

If the water is over 70 degrees then please take a break as well as from noon to sunrise to help prevent the stress on our trout!

Voluntary Fishing Closure

Voluntary fishing restrictions are in effect on the Green River through Seedskadee National Wildlife Refuge when water temperatures reach 70°F or higher. During these periods, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department requests that anglers stop catch-and-release fishing from noon until sunrise to reduce stress on trout.

Warm water contains less dissolved oxygen, making it more difficult for trout to recover after being caught. The combination of elevated water temperatures and the stress of catch-and-release fishing can significantly increase the likelihood of mortality, even when fish are released.

Seedskadee Trout Unlimited Members We Need Your Voice!

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has proposed a new Oil & Gas Leasing Rule that would roll back protections for public lands, fish and wildlife habitat, and most importantly to us Wyoming's coldwater fisheries. Public comments are open now through August 24, 2026

The proposed rule would:
Remove safeguards that help keep development away from sensitive native, wild trout habitat.

Reduce opportunities for public input before lease sales occur.

Roll back bonding requirements that help ensure companies restore impacted land and water for future use.

These changes could have lasting impacts on the trout streams and watersheds we all work so hard to protect and love to fish!

Please take just a few minutes to make your voice heard by submitting a comment through Trout Unlimited's Action Center.
