If you’re new here, welcome! We’d love to introduce you to the family behind Pine Forest Camp. If you’ve been around for a while, welcome back! Allow us to reintroduce ourselves!
Pine Forest Camp was founded in 1931 by Edwin “Hughie” and Selma Black. Hughie, a teacher and professional basketball player, bought a small patch of land in Greeley, PA and the rest is, as they say, history (check out the original ice house, now the girls' office)! Hughie and Selma were eventually joined in camping by their children: Marvin Black and his wife Annette, and Libby Halpern and her husband Ted.
In 1984, Mickey Black, Marvin and Annette’s son, and his wife Barbara joined his parents as directors. Mickey and Barbara's daughter, Anna Black Morin, joined the family business in 2010, followed by their son Lee Forest Black in 2012, and Anna’s husband, Eric Morin, in 2018. Lee passed away unexpectedly at age 35 in 2021. His legacy, his goodness, lives on in everything we do at PFC.
Lee once said, "We want each and every camper to find success in their own way at Pine Forest, whether it's conquering a fear, trying a new food or making a new friend. That philosophy is not written down anywhere, it's not on a plaque, it's something that each and every camper will find for themselves."
