Locals will know this place. I’ve been wanting to shoot this place for more than three years. Foiled by weather, scouting for a safe spot, and my own schedule (more times than I’d like to admit).

Winston Chapel. It’s in a state of disrepair but still a beauty. Passing car’s headlights lit up the chapel and steeple.

For the record, I did stay off the chapel grounds. Just.

Oak trees can take twenty years before they produce their first acorn. Bamboo can shoot up three feet in a day.

I finished school right on schedule. A guy I know took the long way and started his career a decade late. Another guy skipped half of it and built a business before he turned twenty.

Vincent van Gogh sold basically nothing while he was alive and painted in obscurity his whole career. Now his work hangs in museums people fly across the world to see.

Mercury laps the sun in 88 days. Neptune takes 165 years.

Some people are gone by 30. Others are just getting started at 70.

So take a breath, man — you’re not behind. Not by a minute.

Look how far you’ve already come, and there’s still so much road ahead.

Take a breath and let go of whatever envy’s been tugging at you. Nobody else’s timeline was ever yours to match. Your path is your own.

Take a breath. Then keep pressing on.

Spend time with people who remind you of who you’re becoming, not who you’ve been.

Over the last few week clouds have made it impossible to get to the spots I want for star shots, but they have a way of adding their own nuances. It’s a reminder to look beyond what you hoped for and appreciate what is right in front of you.
