Gray-New Gloucester Middle School Softball:

The GNG Patriots Softball youngsters hosted Cornell tonight during their training session at GNG Middle School. Cornell is a member of the GNG Little League here in town, made up of 8-, 9-, and 10-year-olds, and the Patriots took the evening to give back to our youth. The importance of community involvement goes far deeper than older kids giving back; it is a crucial piece of learning for all those participating and for the future of the game here in our community. ❤️

High School Varsity: The Playoff Push is On

It has been a roller coaster for the high school squad. After capturing momentum with three straight victories, a tough four-game skid has put them in a position where every single inning counts from here on out.

The Record & Standing:

The Patriots currently sit at 3-6 (14th place in the Heal Point standings). They are exactly three spots out of the final tournament seed, making a late-season surge absolutely vital.

Silver Linings: Even in a tough loss at North Yarmouth Academy, the program got a glimpse of its future with sophomore Madalyn Patrick blasting her first career varsity home run.

The Week Ahead: The path to a postseason berth goes through crucial upcoming matchups against Freeport and Poland. If they want to break into the top 11 and extended their season into June, the push starts this werk Let's go!!

Middle School: The End of an Era, The Start of a New Streak?

All legendary runs eventually come to an end, but it doesn't make the final out any easier. The middle school program watched a truly historic 32-game unbeaten streak finish on Tuesday afternoon over at Greely.
To put this historic run into perspective: the young Patriots hadn't dropped a single game since May 31, 2024, when a furious late-inning rally fell just short in a 7-9 loss to St. Doms.

The Bigger Picture:
One tough afternoon doesn't erase a culture. Since 2023, GNG Middle School softball has posted an incredible 40-7-3 record.

Next Up: Now sitting at 4-1 on the season, the focus shifts entirely to resilience. They have a prime opportunity to wash off Tuesday's loss and start a brand-new streak this Friday when they host Bath Middle School.

There is nothing quite like local ball in late May. The high school girls have a clear target to hunt down, and the middle school squad has a legacy of bouncing back stronger from adversity!

2026 Season Preview: Patriots Softball Looks to Extend Historic Run.

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER — The Gray-New Gloucester Middle School softball team is preparing to take the field this spring, carrying the weight—and the momentum—of one of the most impressive stretches in recent program history.

As the Patriots gear up for the 2026 season, they do so with a target on their backs, boasting a 28-game unbeaten streak. Over the last three seasons, GNG has dominated the diamond with an overall record of 36-6-3, establishing themselves as a premier force in middle school athletics.

Continuity, leadership and stability is the name of the game for the Patriots this year. With Coach Carroll returning to lead the squad, the program maintains the steady hand that helped guide them through their undefeated stretch. While the team anticipates a small shift in leadership within the dugout, the roster remains loaded with veteran experience. A core group of "very good athletes" returns for the 2026 campaign, bringing with them the high-pressure experience of maintaining a multi-season streak. This blend of seasoned players and fresh leadership roles is expected to keep the Patriots' competitive edge sharp.

The Road Ahead: 2026 Schedule Highlights
The quest to keep the streak alive begins this April. Fans can expect a schedule packed with regional rivals as the Patriots look to turn that 28-game unbeaten run into something even more historic.
