Before the kids head back to school, bring the family out for one more weekend of summer fun at Jarrell Plantation Historic Site! Their Outdoor/Indoor Summer Send-Off program will take you outdoors for a tour of the historic houses with hands on activities and an intro to bird identification. Then you will head indoors to cool off at the visitor center for crafts, games, and activities.

Saturday, Jul 22&23, 2023 9 AM to 3 PM
Admission Required: $7-$4.50, children 5 and under $1.50.

Outdoor portion with bird ID walk and historic house tours starts at 9am, 11am, and 1pm. Crafts and games run 9am-4pm.

Get your tickets 🎟️ now to see Jones County Arts production of 𝓕𝓻𝓸𝔃𝓮𝓷 𝓙𝓻!

Saturday, June 24th at 7pm or Sunday, June 25th at 3pm. Performances will be at the W.E. Knox Center. Tickets for reserved seats $15 and $10 for adults or $8 for students for general admission.

W.E. Knox Civic Center

This building was dedicated on November 29, 1936 and educated students in grades 1 through 11 until the 12th grade was added in 1950. Served students until 1991. The building was designed by Ellamae Ellis League of Macon, who was the first licensed woman architect in Georgia. The building sat vacant for a few years before housing the Jones County Chamber of Commerce in May of 1999. The building was dedicated as the W.E. Knox Civic Center November 17, 2007, in memory of the school Superintendent who served as chairman of its construction. Mr. Knox was a Civic leader being involved in the Kiwanis Club, the Masons as well as a church leader at the Gray United Methodist Church. Mr. Knox was involved in several businesses and served as the Mayor of Gray.

Jones County Court House - Listed in the National Register of Historic Places on August 18, 1973. Outstanding load bearing brick, Victorian Romanesque-style court house trimmed in granite and featuring a central three stage clock tower with open belvedere, pyramidal cap, and hooded clocks. Court house grounds feature retaining wall with massive granite blocks taken from the Jones County Jail at Clinton following the moving of the county seat to Gray in 1905.
