⚾️ COACH SPOTLIGHT: ROGER BIRDSONG

Coach Roger Birdsong brings five years of Little League coaching experience and a lifelong passion for baseball to The Factory.

A former high school baseball player who received college scholarship offers, Roger brings firsthand playing experience and an understanding of what it takes to compete at a higher level.

Roger has coached players across all Little League age groups through 10U, including three years coaching All-Stars and two Little League championship teams.

His coaching philosophy centers on developing strong fundamentals, baseball IQ, confidence, discipline, and a love for the game. He is passionate about helping young athletes reach their potential while teaching them how to compete, overcome challenges, and become better players and teammates.

His goal is simple: develop confident, fundamentally sound players who love the game and are prepared to compete at the next level.

⚾️ COACH SPOTLIGHT: COACH MARCUS

For Coach Marcus, every day on the baseball field is a new opportunity to learn, grow, and get better.

A Jones County native, Marcus grew up playing baseball in Jones County and continued through Jones County Middle School and Jones County High School. For the past four years, he has brought that experience and his love for the game into coaching travel baseball.

Marcus believes baseball teaches players how to respond when things do not go their way. Successes are something to build on. Failures are something to learn from. Hard work, perseverance, and never giving up are lessons he wants every player to carry with them.

As a coach, Marcus focuses on teaching fundamentals, building confidence, encouraging teamwork, and helping each player reach their potential. Most importantly, he wants his players to develop a genuine love for baseball while learning lessons that last well beyond the field.

This journey is especially meaningful because Marcus gets to experience it alongside his son, Mallex, a member of the team. Coaching his son and his teammates is an opportunity he truly values as they build memories, work hard, and grow together.

Every day is a new opportunity. Build on yesterday, learn from it, and come back ready to get better.

Coach Marc Holmes brings five years of travel baseball coaching experience and a passion for developing competitive, confident young athletes.

Marc understands the commitment, dedication, and teamwork it takes to compete at a high level. His coaching philosophy centers on player development, fundamentals, accountability, and a strong competitive mindset.

He takes pride in helping players improve their skills, better understand the game, and build the confidence to compete when situations get challenging.

For Marc, one of the most rewarding parts of coaching is seeing each player’s growth from the first practice, to game day, and throughout the season.

His goal is to help every athlete become a better baseball player, teammate, and competitor while creating a positive environment built on hard work, respect, and a love for the game.

Meet Coach Trent Hardy, Head Coach of Factory Prime 9U and Assistant Coach 12U.

Now in his third season coaching, Trent’s focus is on helping his players build an identity. He encourages them to develop self driven expectations and put in the work so they can approach every situation with confidence in who they are.

In Trent’s words:

“Big Focus on building an identity. My players quickly build self driven expectations. They work so immensely there’s no need to worry about any situation or outcome. They know who they are.”

For Trent, coaching is about being present for his players, sharing his love of the game, and helping build a solid foundation that reaches far beyond baseball.

⚾️ COACH SPOTLIGHT: CODY MILLER  

Meet Coach Cody Miller of Factory Select 17U!

With 10 seasons of coaching experience, Cody has worked with players across multiple levels of the game. Here’s more about his coaching journey in his own words:

“I’ve had the opportunity to coach baseball at multiple levels throughout my career. At the high school level, I’ve coached at John Milledge Academy (JMA), where I was fortunate enough to be part of a state championship team, as well as Georgia Military College (GMC) and Veterans High School.

I’ve also coached at the middle school level at Clifton Ridge Middle School and Huntington Middle School. In addition to school baseball, I’ve coached travel baseball with The Factory, working with players ranging from 13U through 17U since 2021.

These experiences have allowed me to work with players at different stages of their development and gain a broad perspective on what it takes to help players reach their potential.”

⚾️ COACH SPOTLIGHT: MATT LANE  

For Coach Matt Lane, baseball has always been about more than the game.

Matt grew up on the recreation fields of Jones County playing baseball and football and helping his parents, David and Elaine Lane, who were pivotal figures in youth sports throughout the community. That foundation shaped his passion for athletics, competition, teamwork, and helping others.

After years of volunteering around the ballfield while managing and owning restaurants, Matt made a major transition following his mother’s passing in 2019. He closed the family restaurant and committed himself full time to coaching and mentoring players as General Manager of The Factory Sports Training of Georgia.

Today, Matt oversees the day to day operations of The Factory and works closely with our coaches on scheduling, practice planning, player evaluations, and player development. He works primarily with our high school athletes, focusing on mental toughness, preparation, recovery, nutrition, complete player development, and helping players and parents build their recruitment plan.

Baseball is also part of the Lane family. Matt has two sons who play or have played for The Factory. Holden is a sophomore pitcher at Morehouse College, and MJ is a senior catcher/pitcher at Stratford Academy.

For Matt, the goal goes far beyond developing better baseball players. It is about developing young men who can handle adversity, work for what they want, believe in themselves, and carry those lessons with them long after their playing days are over.

The Factory Sports Training of Georgia is looking for coaches, former coaches, trainers, and baseball people throughout Middle Georgia who have a passion for developing young players.

We’re especially looking for experience in middle school, JV/high school, travel and recreation baseball, along with pitching, catching, hitting, infield, outfield, player development and conditioning.

You don’t have to run a team to make a difference. Whether you want to coach a team or train individual players, there may be a place for you at The Factory.
