Since I overachieved during the month of May I decided to up the goal by 15 miles.
Wish me luck, 75 miles in June.🔥🥵☀️🚶🏼‍♀️

I’m adding 10 min of jump roping daily to the month’s goals as well as more awareness of my self talk.

I can be incredibly hard on myself at times. Feeling like I’m not pushing myself enough, feeling like I’m not achieving enough, or that I’m falling behind.

I was struggling with that in May a lot more than I would like so I’m making an effort to practice more encouraging supportive self talk.

The unfurling of a new leaf is still magical to me. It’s the little things.😉It reminds me to be patient with myself. Big things start small, growth takes time, trust the process, and enjoy the beauty. I took a video to capture the process of one of my favorite plants in the studio. What started out as a thin asparagus like roll up has turned into a gorgeous big alocasia leaf. This process never seems to get old, I love it. These small moments in sessions really mean a lot to me. There are too many to list but each and everyone hits my heart the same. Forever grateful.

10 months of constant failure until 1 day it clicks.

Unlocking this particular skill is very personal for me. That ladder and I have been through it.😮‍💨😂

It has seen me angry, sad, defeated, questioning myself, and it pushed me so far that I considered quitting all together.

I wanted to give up on this skill more than any of them so far. It forced me to confront myself. I needed to elevate my mindset, my grit, my focus, and my craft.

The skill required me to take a step back and objectively look at what was holding me back, focus on that, and then return to the skill.

So I focused my strength training in those areas. It felt like I was taking several steps backwards but in reality it was launching me forward.

I love training calisthenics because of the deeper meaning, the mental resilience, and the feeling when a skill is unlocked. There is NOTHING like it for me.

Were the 10 months of failure worth it?
Absolutely.

Some of the calisthenics skills I want to unlock require me to level up in the areas I have the most fear in.

So, the last few months I’ve REALLY leaned into overcoming some fears in the inversion/upside down transition/flip department.

Getting comfortable with single arm transitions, gaining more body control, and connection to my body in space has really improved.

Some skills require you to release full control and trust yourself enough to know that you WILL be able to catch yourself.

That is the biggest gift calisthenics has given me. The opportunity to show myself that I am strong enough to catch myself.😮‍💨🥹

I’m not the only person who has been bitten by the calisthenics bug, it got this guy too.

Watching him unlock new skills, gain strength, and increase his body control has been everything.

Having BIG goals awakened this next level lock in and focus during training. It gave him more purpose and drive. He found something he loved.

I noticed he had a little extra fire in his upper body lifts. It became more than just a chest press or tricep dip, he was driven by the calisthenics skill it was impacting.

He was being internally motivated in a way I hadn’t seen before. I could relate.

Watching him grow into a calisthenics athlete has had a major impact on me. His greatness is contagious. I push myself in hopes to keep up with him. I find myself training for the skills he wants to unlock, ones I never thought were possible for me.

His open mind and fun approach to new skills is one of his best qualities, he’s so brave. That’s a quality I hope to gain more of myself.

Thank you kiddo, you are such a bright light to everyone around you. I’m honored to work with you.

My interest in traditional Chinese medicine lead me to my final stop on my wellness themed birthday, Mindful Spirit Acupuncture.

General wellness, insomnia, digestion, back and joint pain management, headaches, immune support, nervous system regulation, respiratory issues, and stress/anxiety are just a few things acupuncture addresses.

Becky, the owner and practitioner is incredible. I was blown away by her scoop of education and information about the human body.
She creates a space where you feel safe, seen, and cared for. The appointment is tailored to your wants, needs, and comfort level.

My intention for this treatment was releasing heat from the body, a traditional chinese medicine concept. The body can have excessive or deficient amounts of yin or yang heatiness.

I am so lucky to live my life pain free and rarely feel any issues or limitations. My joints feel amazing. My knees are awesome, my hips feel great, and I never have back pain. If I feel something is off, I move my body for two days and I’m back to normal. As hard as I am on my body, I truly feel like I’m 18.

So my experience was far more emotionally focused.

After 75 needles, a mind explosion of information about my body, and much appreciated relaxation time, my treatment was done.

Based on how my body felt with each needle placement, Becky began to draw a better road map for our next appointment. Some areas brought up no discomfort, in fact I couldn’t even feel them going in. While other areas were a little more interesting. Muscles felt tight, muscles felt exhausted, and the needles going in were noticeable. Some places made me cry, not from the needle pain, but from my emotional pain. This was all information for us.

She’s efficient in her healing so our next treatment will be targeted towards the areas of discomfort.

I can’t wait to see her again in January. She’s a very special unicorn human. You know the types, the ones you can feel are angels here on earth.
