🛠️ Pro-Tip Tuesday: The Art of Two-Up Riding 🏍️👥

We spend a lot of time talking about the skills of the person operating the motorcycle. But passenger skills matter just as much.

Whether you are riding with a loved one or a fellow veteran, two-up riding changes the entire dynamic of your machine.

A passenger doesn’t need to help steer the motorcycle or try to control the lean. What they do need to understand is how to remain relaxed, predictable, and move with the motorcycle rather than against it.

Sudden weight shifts, stiffening up in a corner, trying to sit upright while the bike leans, or moving unexpectedly can drastically affect what the rider feels through the handlebars.

Here are a few quick tips for a smooth two-up ride:

• Communicate First: Talk before the engine even starts. Agree on hand signals for stopping, adjusting, or needing a break.

• Establish Mount/Dismount Rules: Make sure your passenger knows to only get on or off after you give the clear signal and have a firm footing.

• Be Part of the Bike: Remind them that their job isn't to ride the motorcycle for you. It is to be a relaxed, predictable extension of it.

💬 Let’s hear from the chapter: What is your go-to tip or signal for riding two-up? Riders, what makes a great co-pilot for you? Drop your advice and drop a pic of you and your backpack in the comments below! Let's see those riding duos! 👇

A skilled passenger can make two-up riding a completely different, enjoyable experience. Look out for your co-pilots, practice clear communication, and keep it safe out there! 🤘

💥 Motorcycle Monday: Forging the Bonds That Count 🏍️⚡

Let’s lock and load—it is time to hit the ground running and start this week off with a great start! As we roll fast into the end of the year, the holidays are quickly approaching, reminding us all that family time is a truly valuable commodity.

To a veteran, "family" means something a little different. It doesn’t require being related by blood. The bonds shared among brothers and sisters in arms, and across our riding community, were forged differently—built on shared sacrifice, trust, and looking out for the person riding next to you. No matter what your week throws at you, remember you've got a whole family standing right here with you.

🌤️ Rider & Weather Reminders:

• Watch the Skies: After yesterday's November rain, keep an eye out for lingering slick spots, wet leaves, or debris on the morning commute.

• Pack a Layer: The autumn chill is setting in across North Texas, so make sure your cool-weather gear is ready for those fluctuating morning and evening temperatures.

• Stay Alert: Keep your head on a swivel, watch out for distracted drivers starting their work week, and let's keep everybody on two wheels.

Let's make it an outstanding week, look out for one another, and stay safe out there on the asphalt! 🤘

Did someone remember to tell our internal military clocks that we were supposed to "fall back" last night?
Because waking up at 0400 feeling wide awake hit a little different this morning.

Happy Daylight Saving Time adjustment, Chapter TX-19 family! While the rest of the world is celebrating an "extra hour of sleep," most of us veterans just used it to lie awake staring at the ceiling, waiting for the coffee pot to brew, or realizing our internal alarm clock is permanently set to "Early Entry."

Here is your quick Sunday checklist as we adjust to the time shift:

• The Bikes: No, you can't use that extra hour to squeeze in a 2 AM ride without your neighbors noticing. But you can use the earlier sunset as an excuse to double-check your headlight, tail lights, and reflective gear.

• The Family: Be extra nice to your spouses, kids, and pets today. They are currently dealing with a veteran in the house who's been awake since before the sun, wandering when their sleep schedule will ever be "normal".

• The Dash: Friendly reminder to spend the next twenty minutes pressing random buttons on your motorcycle instrument cluster trying to figure out how to reset the digital clock. (Or, you can just do what most of us do and leave it wrong until spring).

Enjoy the extra hour today, stay safe on the roads, and let’s look out for each other as the evenings start getting darker a lot earlier.

🏁 Slowdown Sunday: Recharging for the Road Ahead 🏍️🌅

As we wrap up an incredible weekend of riding amd Halloween festivities, Sunday is all about slowing things down, checking over the bikes, and enjoying some well-deserved downtime with family and friends. Take today to rest up, reflect on the miles behind us, and get ready for what’s coming down the road next.

☔ Sunday Weather Alert: If you are planning to get any riding in today, keep a close eye on the sky and radar. We have some rough weather moving in across our North Texas areas for November 1st, bringing a rising chance of showers and scattered thunderstorms later in the day. If you are heading out, pack your rain gear, expect some wet pavement, and stay alert out there!

Speaking of looking ahead, next weekend gives us a fantastic reason to get back out on two wheels!

First up, don't forget that our VFW RG TX-19 meeting is next Saturday at 1000 hours at VFW Post 10429. Make sure you're there to get the latest updates, talk shop, and enjoy the camaraderie before we roll out. (I've got this locked in on the calendar for us moving forward.)

After the meeting, we have the perfect destination to head toward! We want to send a huge shout-out to all our VFW Riders Group Chapter TX-19 brothers who dual-patch with our local Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association® chapter TX 23-30. We stand shoulder-to-shoulder in our shared mission of vets helping vets.

Next Saturday, CVMA® TX 23-30 is hosting their 4th Annual Chili Cook-Off for Veterans Day Weekend, making it the perfect destination for a group ride right after our meeting! All proceeds go directly toward helping local veterans in need.

🏆 UPCOMING EVENT DETAILS

• What: 4th Annual CVMA® TX 23-30 Chili Cook-Off
• When: Saturday, November 7th, 2026 | 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
• Where: Peacocks Feed & Boutique (122 W. Water St., Weatherford, TX)
• Fun & Prizes: Chili tastings, prize drawings, a silent auction, a 50/50 cash raffle, and big cash prizes for the best chili!

If you want to enter a chili team or lock down a vendor spot, reach out to them directly at [email protected] or call 817-771-1670.

Enjoy a peaceful, relaxing Slowdown Sunday, everyone. Take it easy today, look out for one another, and we will see you at the Post next Saturday! 🤘
