Grenoble Stables LLC

Grenoble Stables LLC Since 1961, top quality instruction on well-trained horses and ponies Dozens of nationally successful riders owe their riding foundations to Pam's methods.

Grenoble Stables LLC has provided top-quality instruction to riders of all ages since 1961. Founded by Pam Lloyd on 45 acres in 1961, Grenoble Stables has been in continuous operation ever since. Pam used her experiences as a Thoroughbred exercise rider, "A" show champion hunter rider, three-day eventer, and foxhunter to teach generations of area riders to communicate with and train horses using g

entle, natural methods. She taught riding classes for Denison University for many years, started the Denison University Equestrian Team, and founded one of the first area IEA teams. Now retired, Pam has passed her love of horses and teaching to her children and grandchildren. Grenoble Stables is currently operated by Kathy Lloyd. Kathy has trained horses, ponies, and riders from a young age, having grown up in the family business. Prior to college, Kathy worked for a member of the Canadian Equestrian Team, and traveled to horse shows around the country. During college, Kathy was the "Open" division rider for The Ohio State University IHSA riding team, and spent six months training in France at the "Galop 7" level of the national federation. Kathy is a 2002 graduate of the Duke University School of Law, and has enjoyed a successful commercial litigation practice in Columbus, Ohio since then, while continuing to pursue the training and riding of quality horses and ponies. Since May 2013, Kathy has assumed responsibility for carrying on the Grenoble Stables tradition, and is offering riding lessons to beginning and advanced hunter seat equitation riders of all ages. Grenoble Stables includes an 18-stall barn, 60 x 120 indoor riding arena, 100 x 300 outdoor sand ring, and miles of riding trails. The stable will consider a limited number of outside boarders. Currently there are 23 Grenoble-owned horses and ponies at the stable, and a variety of quality horses for all sizes and riding experience levels.

Here is one of our new girls, Jewel, today, being ridden by Sarah. Her friend June is equally perfect. These mares, who are young, were trained by Amish teenagers from Indiana who did a beautiful job with them. The public at large does not always appreciate that there is a lot of high quality, compassionate horse training coming out of the Amish community, and many farms and families taking excellent care of their horses and ponies. We are grateful to all the Amish horse families that give horses excellent foundations.

Here are a few more pictures of our new girls, Jewel and June, who are temporarily in quarantine (like all new horses). We rode them today and they were excellent. They are best buddies and love to scratch each other's withers--very sweet

Go Big Red! This lovely pair of longtime friends, Gretchen and Pam, were in town for their 40th college reunion at Denison and were students of my mom's during their Denison years. To brag on my mom, she clearly taught them great because they looked fantastic today on their two big red geldings. Thanks for joining us ladies! Hope you have a great rest of your reunion weekend!

Two handsome Thoroughbred horses getting a bath after lessons today. Some descendants of racing royalty right here. Connor, top picture, is by one of the all time great stallions Curlin (whose son won the Derby and the Belmont this year), and Will, bottom, is by Derby winner Super Saver. Both these strapping horses were adopted from New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program. Connor raced 6 times, while Will raced an astounding 54 times. I would say they are two of our quietest, bravest, most dependable horses (and they are also sound, barefoot, and easy keepers, to defy all OTTB stereotypes). We are lucky to have them at our place.
