WOW! What an incredible weekend here in Utah at Utah Motorsports Campus for Round 2 of UtahSBK presented by Dustin Lance
Large grids and High Speed motorcycle racing on the UMC Perimeter track all weekend long. We had 36 Street GP riders getting their first tastes of racing on Saturday. There were 8 brave souls racing the 90MIN endurance in the Ironman class with close to 30 racers overall in the race. And we had a massive King of the Mountain race Grid of 24 racers giving it their all, fighting for some hefty paychecks presented by SameDay Heating & Air …
In the KOM race, Colorado fast guy Matt Cunha on his Rocket ship of an M1000rr and reigning champ Anthony “Lugnut” Norton aboard his zx10r put on a show fighting for the race win swapping the lead 5-6 times before Lugnut would take the point for the final time and lead to the line on the top step of the Podium! Tim Powers out of California took top honors for the middleweight KOM race!
Too much racing action to recount from this weekend and a full paddock of racers, friends, family, and sponsors made for just as much excitement in the paddock. We want to thank everyone for coming out and making such an epic weekend possible especially the Sponsors that continue to contribute to our club and community. Also a Huge thank you to the volunteers that donate their time ensuring a smooth and safe race weekend!
What’s next? Well… Superbikes are now on summer break until August 8-9 for round 3 but that will be here before you know it so get signed up, dial in the bikes, and be ready to send it soon! In the meantime time, check out APEXtrackdays for their July 18th trackday event at UMC. SUPERMOTO season is full throttle with round 2 coming up June 20-21 and practices every 1st and 3rd Monday… Be There!
