FROM INJURY TO BACK IN SERVICE 🐾
This October, our K9 Luna was struck by a car while on an active search. The injuries were serious — potentially life-threatening. What happened next is a testament to this community.
The outpouring of support from the public helped Luna's volunteer handler — who dedicates hundreds of unpaid hours each year to keeping our community safe — cover the overwhelming cost of her care. Without you, that partnership may have been lost.
Today, we are beyond proud to announce that Luna has officially passed her Oregon State Sheriff's Certification Area Wilderness Test and is BACK IN SERVICE. 🎉
What that road back looked like:
✅ Months of rehabilitation and rebuilding strength
✅ Countless volunteer hours from her handler and team
✅ Rigorous recertification training on top of an already demanding commitment
SAR K9 handlers are 100% volunteers. They fund their own equipment, their own training, and the care of their dogs — all while answering the call whenever someone is lost or missing.
