Letter from Pastor Jeff:
It is with a heavy heart that I must inform you we are discontinuing our Upward Flag Football program. This is due in part to our inability to secure the staff needed to offer a quality program for our athletes and in part to a redirection of our energies towards other ministry efforts. We are grateful for the four seasons God gave us, the fun, fellowship, and growth we all experienced. I encourage you to consider other local Upward Programs like the UpwardBasketball program at Bailey Christian Church. Use your now opened weekends to camp, fish, bike, or just play with your athlete and invite a friend or two to join you. It has been a genuine honor serving our community by offering this program for the past four years. Many thanks go out to all our coaches, volunteers, athletes and to all you parents, grandparents, and family members who carted our athletes to practices and games and cheered our young athletes in all their efforts. It was a fun run. I know this may come as a big disappointment to you and your child, believe me, I feel the pain too. But we believe with every door that closes, God is able to open a new door of opportunities.

Hello All,
It’s hard to believe we are already at the end of our Flag Football season. It’s been a crazy roller coaster ride this year, but it looks like we’re going to be able to hold our last set of games and our Season Celebration. Speaking of which, our Season Celebration is going to be held, Saturday, October 31 on the football field to enable social distancing and such. So bring your lawn chairs and dress warm because we will begin at 10:00 AM and I’m sure the temps will be a little cool. Please have your athletes report to their coaches no later than 9:45 AM in the Ministry Building so we can line them up and get them ready to be announced. Each athlete will be receiving an Upward Sports football. We will hand those out when they are lining up in the Ministry Building. (We will have air pumps available to inflate your athlete’s football if you do not have one at home.)
If it is raining or snowing, we will meet in the gym. It will be less than ideal, but we will make it work. You will still need to bring your own chairs. Chairs will be provided for our athletes and coaches in either situation.
As always, we will have prize drawings to hand out to our athletes and parents at the end of the celebration. However, different this year, they/you must be present to receive a prize if their/your name is drawn. Otherwise, we will draw a new name.

From Pastor Jeff:
Hello All,
I regretfully need to inform you we are suspending our season for 2 weeks from this past Saturday. I have been contacted by the Health Department regarding our COVID case and am having to suspend our season for 2 weeks.
What does this mean? It means there will be no practices next Tuesday or Thursday and no games this Saturday or next Saturday, October 10.
Barring any new COVID cases, practices can resume Tuesday, October 13, and Thursday, October 15. We will pick up with the game schedule at game 6 on Saturday, October 17, and finish with game 7 on Saturday, October 24.
I know this is tough news and I take no delight in postponing the season, but we are trying our best to do what is best for all involved and somehow keep the season going. Many schools and programs have just opted to end their seasons. We are trying to keep ours open the best way we can. Thanks for your understanding and I plan to see you “all” Saturday, October 17.
