🌊 Do you know what an Upstream Ambassador is? Let us tell you…

An Upstream Ambassador is someone who champions solutions that stop pollution before it starts. Rather than focusing only on cleaning up trash after it reaches our rivers, lakes, and oceans, upstream advocates work to reduce waste at the source through education, better practices, and smarter policies.

Our founder, Shelly Alves, is proud to serve as an Upstream Ambassador through the 5 Gyres program. She brings this philosophy into everything we do at Nor Cal SUP—from our youth camps and race team to community outreach and shoreline cleanups.

When kids learn to love the water, they also learn to protect it. Through hands-on experiences, environmental education, and stewardship activities, we’re helping raise the next generation of paddlers, advocates, and caretakers of our waterways.

🌊 PaddleSplash Update 🌊

If you've been wondering why you haven't seen a PaddleSplash announcement yet, you're not alone!

After 12 incredible years as a summer event, we're working with California State Parks on a new timeline for PaddleSplash. As visitation at Lake Natoma has continued to grow, larger multi-day events are no longer being scheduled during the peak summer months.

The good news? PaddleSplash is absolutely happening.

We're currently exploring a Fall event and are excited about the opportunities that come with a new season on the water. While we don't have dates to share just yet, a lot of planning is happening behind the scenes, and we're working through the approval process with State Parks.

This next chapter of PaddleSplash may look a little different, but our mission remains the same: bringing together paddlers of all ages and abilities to celebrate community, water safety, wellness, and our shared love of being on the water.

🎉 Welcome Our Newest Nor Cal SUP Groms Sponsor! 🎉

Their generous sponsorship is helping provide rash guards for our youth paddlers and supports both our Nor Cal SUP Groms Summer Camp and Groms Race Team programs.

🌊 NOR CAL SUP GROMS TEAM – SUMMER 2026 🌊

Ready for a summer of adventure, fitness, and fun on the water?

Our Groms Team Program is open to youth ages **8–18**, from complete beginners to experienced paddlers who want to explore, improve their skills, and even train to race.

No paddling experience required!

💥 **Register by May 25 to guarantee your Nor Cal SUP team rash guard!**
Registrations received after May 25 are welcome, but we cannot guarantee rash guard availability.

📅 **Season Dates:** June 1–29, 2026
🕠 **Practices:** Mondays & Wednesdays, 5:30–7:00 PM
🌊 **Bonus:** Two optional weekend destination paddles to nearby waterways
💲 **Cost:** $150

Your Registration Includes:

✅ Team rash guard and T-shirt for Tie Dye Night
✅ Certified land and water coaching
✅ CPR/First Aid training, including how to make a 911 call
✅ Water Safety Seminar with the Placer County Sheriff Marine Division

The coaches here at Nor Cal SUP Groms would like to send out a heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated to our program on the Big Day of Giving. Paddlers, volunteers, long time friends all came together to help us continue our community outreach programs for youth in our area.
