Goldfish Swim School - Knapp's Crossing Teaching kids how to swim is our passion! Goldfish is much more than a swim school. You feel it the moment you walk in. Something different. Something unexpected.

Goldfish Swim School – Knapps Crossing is a state-of-the-art swimming facility dedicated to teaching children as young as 4 months old. It’s more than vibrant colors chosen to inspire kids. More than a curriculum crafted to not only teach kids to swim but also to build their character through guided play. More than a shiver-free pool heated to 90 degrees. There’s something more. Something beyond t

ypical. It’s passion. Not just a passion for kids or a passion for swimming…it’s a special passion for changing – even saving – lives by teaching kids to swim and be safer in and around the water. We use our holistic philosophy, The Science of SwimPlay®, to build life skills both in and out of the water using play-based learning in a fun and safe environment. In a class size of no more than 4 children to 1 swim instructor, children master the skills they need to be safer and confident in the water. Beginning as early as 4 months, children progress through a series of perpetual swimming lessons, graduating to higher levels of difficulty as swimming skills are mastered. Goldfish also offers special events like parties, Family Swim, accelerated Jump Start Clinics and our Goldfish Swim Force Team, catered to swimmers who have completed the Goldfish Pro Level. Goldfish Swim School – Knapps Crossing is proud to help teach the children of the great community of Grand Rapids, MI how to swim and be safer in the water. We encourage you to stop by for a tour of our facilities. We guarantee you’ll love it at Goldfish! To learn more, please visit www.goldfishswimschool.com.

Swim lessons save lives. 🧡

It’s a simple message, but an important one, especially when we consider the tragic drowning statistics that remain true today.

Learning to swim is about more than just being in the water. It’s about building the skills that help kids stay safer. Skills like learning how to float, knowing to turn and move to the wall, and how to respond in an unexpected water situation.

These skills take time, consistency, and practice, but they make a real difference when it matters most.

At Goldfish Swim School, every lesson is designed to help kids build confidence, develop strong water safety habits, and become more prepared in and around the water.

Because progress in swim lessons isn’t just about what kids can do, it’s about what they’re ready for.

💬 What’s one water safety skill your child has learned that made you proud, or maybe given you more peace of mind?

“What’s the best swim program for beginner swimmers?”

If you’ve been searching for a swim school near me, you’ve probably wondered where your child should start, especially if they’re brand new to the water.

The good news is: finding the perfect swim school fit for your family might be easier than you think. 🧡

At Goldfish Swim School, we meet kids where they are. Early levels focus on building comfort in the water, introducing foundational skills like floating and safe movement, and helping swimmers see real results.

As they progress, those skills continue to build, always at a pace that supports both safety and growth.

Because every swimmer starts somewhere, and the right starting point makes all the difference.

💬 Not sure which level is right for your child? Drop us a comment, or send us a DM! We’re happy to help.

“What age should toddlers start swimming lessons?”

It’s one of the most common questions parents ask, especially as summer approaches.

Many toddlers can begin swim lessons earlier than parents expect. At this stage, lessons focus on building comfort in the water while introducing foundational water safety skills alongside a parent or caregiver.

Over time, toddlers start developing important abilities like floating, moving through the water with support, and responding to simple instructions. All of these things contribute to safer behavior around water.

Learning to swim is a process, and starting early helps build skills, see real progress, and gain confidence step by step.

💬 Curious if your toddler is ready to get started? We’re happy to help. Send us a DM or drop us a comment!

Last week, we had the privilege of sharing water safety skills with a preschool for Deaf and hard of hearing children alongside an ASL interpreter. 💙

After the presentation, families joined us in the pool to practice their skills and build water confidence together. We love making water safety education accessible, engaging, and fun for every child! 🏊‍♀️✨

At Goldfish, our monthly celebration for June is all about celebrating animals (and incorporating this into the curriculum that gets kids excited to learn) 🐾

From dogs doing the “paddle” to fish in the water, animals and swimming naturally go together. 🐠

Each month, we introduce a new celebration theme that helps keep learning engaging and effective. Using familiar movements with an added element of imagination to help swimmers stay focused as they build real skills in the water.

You might hear about “sea otter back floats” or see swimmers practicing their “dolphin kicks”, and behind each one is a purpose: helping kids strengthen technique, improve body control, and build confidence in the water.

Because every lesson is about progress, skill-building, and helping kids become safer swimmers. We just teach in a way that kids enjoy the learning process. ✨

What actually happens during a swim lesson?

For many parents, the first lesson can feel like a mystery.

A typical class includes guided skill practice, playful activities that help reinforce learning, and lots of encouragement from instructors along the way. Kids work on important skills like floating, safe movement through the water, and listening for directions. All while having fun! 😊

Because when kids enjoy the experience, they’re more likely to stay engaged and keep building new skills.

💬 If your child is already in lessons, what’s their favorite part?
