Glen's Army Navy has, once again, been voted Itasca County's Best Gun Store. The honor comes at a bittersweet moment for the store: after 80 years serving the community, Glen's Army Navy will be closing its doors for good this November.
Being named Itasca County's Best Gun Store is an incredible honor, and it means even more knowing it comes at the close of this chapter. Eighty years is a long time to be part of a community, and we don't take one of those years for granted.
Founded in 1946, Glen's Army Navy grew from a small local shop into a trusted destination for hunters, sportsmen, collectors, and families across Northern Minnesota and well beyond Minnesota's borders. Generations of customers have walked through its doors for a first rifle, expert advice, hard-to-find gear, and the kind of personal service that only comes from decades of knowing your community by name.
After eight decades in business, the decision to close was not made lightly and the store's ownership wanted the community to hear it directly, with gratitude, rather than read it as just another "going out of business" sign.
To every customer who walked through our doors from right here in Grand Rapids to folks who found us from across the country, thank you! You made Glen's Army Navy what it was. This award belongs to you as much as it belongs to us.
Glen's Army Navy invites the community to come in and save big during its storewide liquidation sale, and to take the chance to say thank you and goodbye in person. Sales start Monday, August 17th and will run until everything is gone! We'll will be closed tomorrow, 8/16, to prep for the event.
