It was a fun and highly successful Bayshore Marathon for Kristina Brandenburg , Kimberly Proctor , and Gerry Verwey on Saturday in Traverse City! Coach Brandenburg had a near flawless first ever 26.2 mile jaunt, Kim looked so strong and was up near the front part of the race, and former head coach Gerry Verwey felt smooth as he prepares for his next ultramarathon. The best part of the race was, because it was an out-and-back course, all three runners saw each other at the same time and cheered for each other. 😊

Congratulations to alumna, and now high school track coach, Sarena Overbeek for her part in helping Grand River Prep High School on their first ever Alliance League Conference Championship in track & field! Sarena works with their distance runners and we have no doubt that she is making a positive impact on the lives of their student-athletes! :)

We are so proud of Maty and Kristina for graduating from Grace this morning. They have just been the absolute best teammates and captains. It was great to have us come together after the ceremony for one more "Uno, dos, tres, Grace!" in the reception hall with those of our team in attendance to share our love and care for our team and each other. Congratulations, Maty & Kristina!

Tonight we came together one last time as this year's team for our athletic department's Spring ROOTED Celebration, where we remembered some of our top moments of the year, worshipped together, shared in devotion to the Lord, and reflected on how what we do as student-athletes in Christ makes an impression to others. Kristina Brandenburg , Sayla Bender Grace, and Caleb Anderson all helped to lead our time in worship tonight. Kristina took a moment as a senior to share some words with all the athletes present (video) and was even voted runner-up for the Top Female Senior Athlete Award! Congratulations to Julia Schultz who won the Top Female Senior Athlete Award this year! Julia played for the women's soccer team, but was also a member of our 2023 women's cross country team that placed 2nd at Nationals that year. Proud of you, Julia, and the way you have led during your time at Grace!

Great race this morning by Grace XC alumna and multi-time national champ and All-American Kimberly Proctor representing the Gazelle Elite team at the Rivertown Half Marathon! She ran a steady 1:30.28 to take 2nd place and felt great doing it! Proud of you, Kim!
