Did you know lifeguard training includes the 10/20 Rule? Need to spot a person in distress within 10 seconds & reach them within 20 seconds. There is a movie myth on a person drowning; it really is silent and rapid because the person can not call for help or get air. We truly value our dedicated Grand Rapids Pool Lifeguards and the important role they play in our community. Our final Lifeguard Spotlight is Killian. She has been with the pool for 3 years. Did you know the Lifeguard certification process generally takes 26-40 hours? Training includes CPR, First Aid, AED and life-saving rescue skills, along with a swim test. Certification is renewed every two years. We appreciate this commitment by our Grand Rapids Pool Lifeguards. Our Lifeguard Spotlight this week is Bailey. This is her first year at Grand Rapids Pool. Based on the Weather Alerts for NW Ohio on the continued unhealthy air quality, the Grand Rapids Swimming Pool will again be closed today Friday July 17th. We will ensure the safety of our guards and community.

Grand Rapids Pool Lifeguards "position" themselves to reduce any blind spots and maintain strict vigilance. They rotate these positions on schedule to keep a "fresh set of eyes" on things. Our Spotlight Lifeguard this week is Grant. Please give a wave or hello when you see him!
