The regular season is in the books. The stakes are higher. And now, it’s win or go home.

The Midwest Rugby Union Men’s Division 3 and Division 4 Playoffs kick off THIS WEEKEND, October 17, as clubs from across the Midwest begin their quest for postseason glory!

🔥 MEN’S D3: SWEET 16. ONE GOAL.
Sixteen teams. Eight opening-round matchups. League rivals give way to cross-league battles as the top two teams from eight leagues collide. The road to the Midwest Championship runs through the Round of 16, Quarterfinals, and Semifinals — with a Midwest title and a National Championship Series opportunity on the line.

💥 MEN’S D4: THE CHASE FOR THE CROWN.
The Division 4 postseason is here, too! With top seeds earning opening-round byes, the Play-In Round brings critical matchups across the Central, CARFU, Iowa, and Minnesota leagues. Survive this weekend, and the road to the D4 crown gets even tougher.

Every tackle matters. Every breakdown counts. Every point could be the difference between moving on and going home.

The mission is simple: SURVIVE AND ADVANCE.

🏉 CALLING ALL MIDWEST THUNDERBIRDS!

The road to Dallas starts now! The Midwest Rugby Union is officially beginning the selection process for the 2026 Midwest Thunderbird Women's Team, which will compete at the Mary Graham All-Star Tournament on December 5–6 in Dallas, Texas.

The Thunderbirds represent the Midwest at the highest level, bringing together elite players ready to compete against top talent from across the country. If you believe you have what it takes to compete at the high-performance level, we want to hear from you!

Here’s what selected players need to know:

- 📍 Arrive in Dallas around midday Friday, December 4
- 🏉 Commit to the team through the evening of Sunday, December 6
- ✈️ Arrange and cover your own travel to Dallas
- 💰 Tour fee typically $300–$350, covering lodging, meals, and other team expenses

The road to the Midwest Rugby Union Men’s Division 4 Championship starts this weekend! The Play-In Round features the #3 seed from each league traveling to face the #2 seed from its designated sister league.

The road to the Midwest Rugby Union Men’s Division 3 Championship starts this weekend! The Sweet 16 / Play-In Round brings together the top two teams from each league, with the #2 seed traveling to the #1 seed from its designated sister league.

📌 A couple of important playoff notes:

The CRC Silverbacks, who finished second in CARFU, were disqualified from playoff competition following a forfeit involving an ineligible player. As a result, the Peoria Pigs take the CARFU #2 seed and their place in the playoff field.

In Ohio, the Cincinnati Kelts and Louisville Rugby finished tied on competition points. The Kelts secured the playoff berth by winning their head-to-head matchup on September 6.

Eight matchups. Sixteen teams. One step closer to the championship. It’s win-or-go-home rugby from here on out. Who’s punching their ticket to the next round?

🔥 WEEK 8 POWER RANKINGS ARE HERE! 🔥

The regular season is heating up, and the Midwest Rugby Union rankings are getting tighter by the week. With playoff positioning on the line, every result is carrying a little more weight—and Week 8 brought plenty of movement.

🏉 Men’s D3: Red River Ruffians remain on top, with Cleveland Rovers and Michiana Moose holding strong in the top three. Rockford Ravens make a +2 jump, while Cincinnati Kelts, CRC Silverbacks and Columbus Castaways all climb the rankings. Two teams enter the Top 20 this week, including West Des Moines Wombats and Green Bay Celtics.

💥 Men’s D4: St. Cloud Bottom Feeders continue to hold the #1 spot, followed by Northside Geese and Westside Outcasts. Marion Mutants make the biggest move of the week, jumping three spots to #6, while Cleveland Crusaders climb two. And we've got a new team in the rankings as Iowa Falls Rugby debuts at #9.

🔥 WEEK 8 WOMEN’S POWER RANKINGS 🔥

We’re getting down to the business end of the regular season, and the standings are starting to separate.

In D1, Pittsburgh Forge and Chicago Lions remain unbeaten, with Forge holding the top spot at 4-0. Chicago North Shore, Columbus and Grand Rapids are all sitting at 2-2, while the battle for the final spots continues to tighten up.

In D2, Milwaukee Scylla continues to set the pace at a perfect 6-0, while Circle City and South Buffalo are also unbeaten. Cleveland, Palmer College, Cincinnati, Columbus, Wisconsin, Fort Wayne and Pittsburgh are all right in the mix, making the middle of the table especially competitive heading toward the postseason.

With the playoff picture taking shape, every result matters from here on out. Who’s making the biggest move in Week 8? 👀🏉🔥
