We evacuated our campers, staff, and family a few days ago due to wildfires for the time being. While it was excruciating to watch camp grow smaller as the boats sped up the Seagull River, it was easily the right decision for the safety of our kids and staff.
Penny will share some more practical updates tomorrow about the fire, weather conditions, and upcoming camp sessions, but for now we want to express our gratitude.
To Timberline RV Resort in Sturgeon Lake, MN for taking us in and making us feel safe and comfortable. All 60-some of us!
To our amazing team of counselors and support staff who handled a complex evacuation with steadiness, laser focus, and immense compassion.
To our Session 2 and 5 campers for being so brave and fun loving in the face of disappointment and uncertainty.
To our camp families…words don’t do you justice. I don’t know how we lucked into having the kindest and most understanding families on the planet as our clientele.
To our neighbor, Paul, for watching over camp’s sprinkler systems while we have been tending to our campers and staff.
And to the firefighters and support crews fighting for this land that has our hearts, THANK YOU for your bravery and generosity.
This one hurts. We’re sitting in a limbo, fearful for our camp that means so much to so many. Please keep us in your thoughts, hearts, prayers! Ely too!
