Yesterday was a wonderful day unless you were a trout. We fished under cloudy skies all morning with an occasional drizzle here and there. Boxed our 30, then retreated for lunch.

15 plus mph winds but we were able to scratch out our 30. No pyrotechnics were used on this trips as the customers preferred plastics.

You hear catch phrases such as ‘firecrackers’ and ‘dynamite’ as being the best bait. The hard truth is between the river and the wind that we have had good swimming live bait that is making noise is your best bait for trout right now. If you want the C4 or the nitro glycerin you need to think outside the box! Did we limit out today ….. no, by the time the customers figured out how to fish live pinfish the tide was stopping and the 20 mph winds had started blowing.

We finished a little shy of a limit of 18 to 19 inch trout all caught on live pinfish fished Carolina rigged. You talk about FUN and great customers who freely admitted that …. “ I have never fished without a cork.” “I’ll be back next month and will buying me some pinfish “.

The week before Mardi Gras was phenomenal, then the big blow came through. A couple of days of hunting and pecking then today the bite turned back on. A wheelbarrow full of sheepshead and speckled trout. As we enter our 21st year of serving the fishing community we are grateful for all of our past and future customers.

March is busy but there are scattered dates later in the month and into April. We look forward to seeing all of our faithful .

The ole girl is currently getting her hair and nails taken care of with plans for her to be back on the water March 1st.

Some of the absolute best fall fishing I’ve seen. We had a single throwback speck today and that was only because a shark ate the back half. Zero live bait, all on plastics on the bottom. I can only imagine what the spring run is going to look like come March / April.

WOW is the only word that can describe this morning!!!! I had a hunch and left the dock with zero live bait. Can I tell you those fish were HUNGRY!!! We brought our 60 back and I had to have at least 100 pounds of trout in the box. 60 fish, 5 full gallons of filets only 2 throwbacks all day long.

All of Tuesdays shrimp that were not sold have now been deheaded and are ready for the freezer. 21/25 count with plenty of 16/20s mixed in, deheaded. $5.00 a pound until the hit my freezer.

I also have several pounds of soft shell shrimp IYKYK! Those are also $5.00 a pound while supply last.

This is Grand Isle only, we do not have a truck headed to town until next week.
