2025 Fall Eagle Scout Project - Archer Verhage, Grand Haven Scout Troop 246.

* South Loop and East Loop 7 Log Piles Rebuilt.

* South and East Loops 2 Skinnies Added.

* South and East Loop 2 Earth Berms Built.

It was the first Eagle Scout Project for Bass River and it went quite well. Everyone from Melissa from MDNR and scout troop leader Josh Verhage made this a smooth project from Memba's point of view.

NOTE: All these features are side of the trail options and are located off from the main trail or there is a ride around.😃

Few pictures to bring you along on the two trail days that were organized by Archer with the help of volunteers.

Thank you to Memba for tools, hardware, and volunteers. Thank you D. Baker and Son Lumber for materials. Thank you to Scout Troop 246. Thank you to Melissa Verhage (Archers mom) for feeding all of us and encouragement. Thanks to the riders young and not so young for testing the features. And thanks to Mother Nature for nice weather. 😁🌞🚴‍♂️

East Loop feature is open. There is now an optional log skinny as shown in these pictures. Please be cautious of the dirt approaches they are soft until we get some rain. The feature itself seems to be pretty solid. If you ride it, let us know what you think.

Eagle Scout Archer also has some plans going in probably October. Rebuild B Line Optional Log Piles and a couple more skinnies.

Another Boardwalk was added to the wet end today. Thanks Jeff and John for making it happen. The 24-ft boardwalk has an Easy Arc along with a Slight Bank. As always just watch the approaches as they could still be soft until it gets packed in. Also, wood gets slippery when wet. 😁 Chuck

It was an interesting and good feedback meeting about Bass River 10 year management plan on June 7th 2023. The MDNR and Matt Lincoln hosted. Final plan will now be firmed up. More to come on that.

Here are a few pictures of recent improvements to the trailhead.

Thanks for respecting our local natural wonder.
