This year’s event also marked an important changing of the guard.
When Tris4Health took over the Grand Haven Triathlon in 2024, longtime race director Ron Knoll graciously agreed to remain in the role and help guide the event through the transition. Ron has led this race for more than two decades, dedicating countless hours to its athletes, volunteers and the Grand Haven community.
Ron’s contributions have also extended far beyond this event. He has been a tremendous supporter of the broader racing community and a trusted resource to race directors throughout the region, always willing to share his experience and help others succeed.
His willingness to stay involved provided invaluable continuity and allowed our team to learn from the person who helped shape the Grand Haven Triathlon into the event it is today.
In 2026, Ron officially passed the race director torch to Dawn Hinz. Dawn was already very familiar with the event, having served as its swim safety coordinator for the past three years. Her experience, leadership, and commitment to athlete safety made her a natural choice to take on the race director role.
Dawn did an outstanding job leading this year’s event, and we are excited to see her continue building on the strong foundation Ron created.
Thank you, Ron, for more than two decades of leadership and for helping make the transition to Tris4Health such a successful one. Congratulations to Dawn as she begins this next chapter as race director of the Grand Haven Triathlon.
We are proud to honor the history of this event while continuing to move it forward.
