Fishing Report 6/23/26

The weather is the big topic of conversation lately. Windy and changing directions multiple times a day and even coming from multiple directions with opposing current has made for the most uncomfortable June fishing I can remember! That said we were out there in it trying to figure it out!

Location:
The bait has been pushing back out of the rivers from spawning and big trout have migrated in to pull up to the buffet. Great for the customers if the salmon are not cooperating. They have been in that 100 to 230 fow. 150 to the bottom. The salmon have been moving around trying to stay close to the bait in the 55 to 70 fow area. This week 90 to 120 was best except today. We moved offshore and had best luck in the 150 to 215 area. Some Skams are showing up now with most boats having 2 to 4 a trip.

Deep down:
Water temp is changing constantly with really warm water early this week and cooling the last 24 hours. A nice break is setting up giving depths to focus on. The break today was around 65 to 85 offshore and that's where we focused our baits.

Riggers:
The center rigger has been a very useful tool this week. Fish mag spoons and paddles early for a king bite or two deeper than the thermocline. Later on a big paddle fly deep for trout or a spinny and whirly gig for trout and an occasional salmon. Outdowns are still running spoons for younger salmon, coho, and steelhead. SS two face, spotted dolphin, and green slices and been good.

Diver:
Running high 107 dw divers with some spin doctors with flies and spin doctors and meat riggers are starting to fire. Blues and greens. 160 to 290 back. Had to change over some to wire because the water fleas in the fish hook variety are getting bad!

Coppers:
The dw ninja boards are out there pulling big mogan coppers in 3 to 7 footers. Best board for salmon! One hand operation and one size will pull from 45 to 600 coppers. Haven't had one dive on me this year yet. Im sure one will but it will be a big king hitting on the inside of a turn later in the summer but it will but a rare occurrence. Coppers have been really effective last few days. 200 to 450 foot of Morgans has been doing alot of work with standard dw and moonshine spoons. SS on the 200 to 250 coppers. Same colors as riggers. We are starting to get blues and greens with glow working good again.

Troll direction and finding the fish has been big lately. We struggled today only boats 3 or 4 fish by 845. We finally found a good current change at 150 fow with our fishhawk. Showing a complete switch from the water inside that. We focused from that area but the current direction was such we had to troll almost w with a touch of south in it to get the fish to react. They wanted the baits cutting the current some and once we figured that out we boated 13 more fish in the last 2 hours of the trip. Say what you want but when fishing is tough having something to read temp changes and current changes are money. The best out there will agree and the rest will say the can tell from the pull on divers or amount of bubbles on wire or some other voodoo magic that I do not possess! haha

Thats this week's report love it or lump it! No matter what get out and enjoy the great Lake Michigan!

Fishing report 6/16/26

The windy June continues! I do like the west in it and I think when the weather settles out we will have good fishing again!

The wind really hasn't kept us off the water much but today and Thursday are gonna be maintenance days. Both boats got some love today and should be happy for the next 2 or 3 weeks.

Fishing has been tough mostly because of the conditions and not being able to stay in productive water long or run a full spread. That being said we have been just under or just over the double digits on kings with bigger ones moving in more and more. Trout bite is still decent and they are good ones.

Location

85 to 140 has been the area most productive for kings and cohos. Yesterday we did take a few in the 184 to 210 fow range but would have stayed in the 85 to 140 but conditions made that very tough. Water keeps cooling and then warming so everyday has been different but 40 to 75 has been the water column we have been targeting. We have been fishing straight out mostly with a little south or a little north depending on troll angle that day. Been focusing on the stained water and small temp breaks.

Riggers

45 down 55 down and 65 down have been really productive with spoons. Running spoons on all 3 riggers. Blood nose spoons in the smaller sizes like dw ss...half moon sizes best. Green has been good for the cohos. If things slow down we have been using one rigger for trout and yellow and green have been best for them.

Coppers

Our morgan coppers behind our ninja boards have been good in the 200 to 400 range. Again glow spoons with uv tape the best. Greens and yellows and dots seem to be producing best. Ninja boards have been just pulling great in the big waves. Love them!

Divers

Ninja divers in the 107 size and 107 deeper divers are still our go to rt now. Running dw ss and half moons on them too. Full size bloody nose dw and moonshines working well too. Just north or south of the 200 feet back mark been best. With the winds and waves still sticking to just 2 braid divers. Less has been more for us lately.

Troll direction has been key and reading the current and trolling the right direction and in the right water is what the difference between a 4 fish day and a 10 fish day right now. The fishawk is still my true indicator of what is happening in the strike zone. Saved a trip last week where I completely miss read the conditions and had to make a change to our troll by 120 degrees. Saved the day.

I am tired of getting beat up but we have had some diehard customers keeping us on the water. Thanks to them and please mother nature let up us! I have 3 dates left until Sept 5 on Sea Flea Too. We are starting to get Thunderduck booked up also but it has a handful left in July and August.

The best is yet to come! Get out there and enjoy the lake!

Fishing Report 6/11/26

Fishing is more of a typical June out of Grand Haven right now. Some trout are showing up and are good size. The salmon are still all different age classes. Its a tough bite and the weather is gonna make it tougher over the next few days. There is an early bite then its a slow pick the rest of the day. Some larger fish are starting to show and we seem to be getting a couple bites a day and with Mature kings. That usually just keeps getting better and better.

Water is warming so deeper coppers and divers with 200 to 300 ft back on highs and 110 to 180 on lows. 375 copper was our best last time out with bigger kings. Still spoon bite. Flies are just not producing as well.

Riggers 50 to 100 down. Spoons in greens and yellows or blues and greens. Green and yellow has been our best this spring. The fog the other day made purples good.

Divers 200 to 300 on highs. Spoons are best. SS are best. Same colors as riggers.

Coppers 200 to 400 now and probably bigger but haven't gone there yet. Same spoons on those too.

It wont be long we will be talking about paddles, spinnies, flies and meat rigs. But for now just looking for the most action and Spoons have been it.

Fishing 75 to 220. Even made it out to 300 the other day. Nothing to hold fish anywhere yet. Maybe these winds will change that!

Fish to be caught. Hope the report helps! Look forward to having things change up over the next few weeks.

Fishing report 6/7/2026
The fishing hasn't been easy per say but we have managed some nice catches on king salmon. Most are running 4 to 11 lbs. There is a early morning bite but it is short with the moon phase and our best bite has been 9 to 1030am. Some bait is showing up in 50 ft and today some in 120 to 140 fow. That is where we did well on the late morning bite.

With the size fish the spoon bite is still best. DW ss in Flea 4 all, green dolphin, Carmel dolphin, green slice, soda, blue slice. Some standard moonshines have been good on deeper coppers. Very few fly bites rt now.

Riggers 35 to 75 down early. Little deeper later on.

Divers been really good. Braid highs with ss or half moons good 120 to 200 back. Deeper divers 107 or 107 ninja been really good the last few days.

Coppers have been spread from 100 to 350. All have been producing.

Troll direction has been key with a big south to north current and east wind. 5 or 10 degrees can be a huge difference rt now.

Speed has been 2.6 to 3.0 making small variations often. Lots of fish coming into spread but the bite is on and off. Don't leave the fish the will turn on.

Good luck! Pretty darn good June fishing!

Brought 12 kings to the dock today and let a couple go to grow. Solid day!

Fishing Report May 19
Grand Haven MI

Fishing has been good with a good mixture of different age class kings. Coho, lake trout, and steelhead also caught most days.

Fish can be found from the pierheads to 210 fow. We have been concentrating in the 115 to 160 area. Water color changes and some temperature changes starting to develope which are holding fish.

Fish are spread thru out the water column. We are catchinging fish 20 fd to the bottom.

Riggers 35 to 95 down are doing well with Dreamweaver ss size spoons. They have been our best in the Flea 4 all, lemon icicle, green icicle, spotted dolphin, wonderbread. Have been dw full paddles white fish scale with pickle fly or oceana fly. Dw flip fins in the same colors and also a green dragon slayer with a dw aqua crinkle fly.

Divers have been active with a 107 ninja divers set 45 back off the diver with standard size moonshine spoons. And a 107 deeper diver runner the same Flea 4 all. Running divers 120 to 220 back. We have been starting to do well with dw flip fins in same color patterns as riggers later in the morning. Still running braid divers but that will be changing to wire soon.

Coppers have been good with our best spoons this week being rosta goose, captain Gary and wonderbread in ss size. Standard moonshine green jeans and rachet jaw were good too. 75 to 400 all going.

Weather has been a issue. We have been fishing but it has been windy most days. Get out there when you can! Plenty of fish to be caught!
