We have been flooded most of the winter and now the river is high again for the next few weeks. We will not open until mid May at the earliest. Roads and campsites have to be cleared of mud and debris. Causeways need major repairs from the fall and winter flooding. The ground needs to dry out so you do not get stuck in the mud. Inventory of portapotties and picnic tables will be done when I can safely drive my vehicles on the campground.. Continue viewing my posts on Facebook to save you the trip or phone calls. I value your business, but will NOT allow any campers until I have the campground safely available for your enjoyment.

Thank you to the campers who braved the thunderstorms this Labor Day Weekend. For those of you who preferred not to camp in the rain, I understand. Two years of three holiday weekends of flooding/high water and heavy rain wants me encourage you to come out in other weekends. We are opened through the weekend before Thanksgiving, unless there is snow. GRAND DETOUR ART FESTIVAL AT THE JOHN DEERE HISTORIC SITE, IS SEPTEMBER 9TH IF ANY OF YOU ARE INTERESTED. GREAT ART, CRAFTS, KETTLE CORN AND BLACKSMITH DEMOSTRATIONS ARE ON THE GROUNDS OF THE BEAUTIFUL JOHN DEERE HOMESTEAD FROM THE MID 1800'S.

I only get to see the ground level of the campground as I mow. I just love the bird's eye view from a drone. Hope you enjoy it as much I did. Special thanks to Northern Illinois Vertical Data for creating the drone video.

Each year, hundreds of community volunteers come together, around the Fourth of July, to celebrate!
