Did you know that there are currently eight generations alive on Earth today? That’s the most in recorded history! From the Greatest Generation, whose youngest members are now over 100 years old, to Generation Beta, born starting January 1, 2025, each group brings its own unique perspectives, values, and preferences.

In today's workplace and within families, we are navigating the most generationally diverse environment in history. With up to five generations working, communicating, and making decisions together, understanding generational differences is no longer optional—it’s essential.

In 2021, I created the Generations Game for a family I was working with to help illuminate the unintentional hurdles that were preventing younger generations from fully engaging. It wasn’t a matter of disinterest, but rather a mismatch between their preferences and the existing structures. The game helped uncover these challenges and spark meaningful conversations and they made changes in the ways some things were done.

Since then, I’ve used the Generations Game in a variety of settings, from family meetings to professional workshops, helping family members, teams and organizations recognize and navigate generational differences in a fun and interactive way.
