Interested in RC hobbies we are hosting a swap meet May 31-june1 2024 at the Acton middle School in Granbury Tx. There will be vendors with new and used equipment. There will be an auction on Saturday afternoon featuring aircraft, cars and boats. Tables are available at $20.00 per day for vendors. General admission is $5.00 per day.

The weather forecast for November 4th is looking pretty good. Don’t forget the funfly scheduled for Saturday. We have two fun events scheduled. We will start at 10:00 am. Combined points from both events will determine overall winners. Three rounds of each event is planned to give all participants an equal chance. Entry fee is $20.00 for both events with a cash payout for the top three finishers. The first event is a musical chair with a scrambled landing each time the whistle blows untill only one pilot is left flying. The last plane landing is eliminated untill only one is still flying. Second event take off, a combination of three each of loops, rolls and spins after rolling a number seven on the dice board followed by rolling an eleven after completing the maneuvers. This will be timed from start to finish. Points awarded on fastest times. If you are not flying we need spotters to keep track of planes during the musical chairs event. We should be finished bu 2:00 pm.

Thursday morning I will be at the field cutting grass and cleaning the area up for the interview with the local paper and AMA next Monday morning. We will have the Mayor, City Manager, Asst City Manager, City Council, and the Tourism Director on hand for the interview. Any one available is requested to help get the field looking nice for Monday. All members are requested to bring airplanes to the event. This will appear in the paper and in the AMA magazine. The more airplanes and club members present Monday ar10:00 the better. Thanks in advance for any and all participation.

Attention club members, we have a tentative date of July 18th for the ribbon cutting at the field. This will be an interview with AMA and Hood County News. We need to have the grass fresh cut just before this. If you have a portable shade bring it out to set up. Airplanes will be displayed for photo op. This will give us coverage in the local paper and the national magazine. What a great way to promote the club.

Bill Bishop and I went to the field at 7:00 this morning. The sun has pulled most of the wrinkles out of the fabric. I put in 6 flights before it got hot. Landings need to be made close to the end or you fill run off into the grass if you land in the middle. Planes roll real good on the slick surface.

Ok, WAMS members listen up. The new runway is complete. It is a thing of beauty and we need to take care of it. If you damage it with a prop strike or a crash landing please notify me or field coordinator Bill Bushop ASAP so repairs can be made to prevent further damage. If left untreated the wind will enter the hole or torn spot and create further damage. We have spent a lot of time and a lot of money getting the field to this condition. Take pride in what we have and treat it with love and tenderness.

Well boys and girls the runway is complete. The geriatric group spent two mornings cutting, rolling, stretching and spiking the material down. The first strip put down Friday was stretched tight as a drum this morning. By this time tomorrow it will be pretty much wrinkle free. Great job guys and gal.
