Today we get to celebrate the accomplishments and the next steps of GHS senior swimmer Cameron Ward as he signs his letter of intent to continue his swimming career as a McMurry Warhawk!

Congrats Cameron on an awesome career!!

The great things keep coming for Pirate Swimming!

Last week the Texas Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association (TISCA) released their annual All-State List. This is for the top 24 times in Championship meets or TISCA certified meets during the 2025-26 season.

GHS had 6 events make the all state team!

Cameron finished 14th in the 200 IM and 11th in the 100 BR. He also lowered his own school record set yesterday in the 100 BR down to 59.22!

The year of the Breaststrokers!

Both 100 Breaststroke school records have been broken this season!

Ellie broke it in Region Finals breaking a 19 year old record. And Cameron joined in on the fun today at the state prelims, breaking a six year old record on the boys side!

Cameron also advanced to the 5A State Finals in both the 200 IM and the 100 Breaststroke!

The Pirates and Lady Pirates had a great weekend in Mansfield!

As a team we finished 3rd overall in the girls and 4th overall in the boys. Combined we finished 4th overall as a program out of 24 teams.

We had 5 individual medalist
🥉- Carmen Citzler, 100 Backstroke
🥈Ellie Nelson, 500 Freestyle
🥈Cameron Ward, 200 IM
🥈Cameron Ward, 100 Breaststroke
🥇Ellie Nelson, 100 Breaststroke (New School Record!)

We also had 3 Relays medal
🥉Boys 200 Medley
🥉Boys 200 Freestyle
🥈Girls 400 Freestyle

This means we had 5 events that we automatically qualified to compete in the state meet February 20-21 in Austin!
-Ellie Nelson: 500 Free & 100 Breaststroke
-Cameron Ward: 200 IM & 100 Breaststroke
- Girls 400 Freestyle Relay

This morning we found out that we had two additional events get picked up for being in the top 8 fastest finishes that were not automatically qualified.
- Boys 200 Medley Relay
- Boys 200 Freestyle Relay

What a weekend! Way to make Pirate Nation proud! Go Pirates!🏴‍☠️
