Most people won’t realize part of Mexico’s soccer story began in Cornwall. ⚒️⚽

In the 1800s, Cornish miners from Redruth, Camborne and Gwennap travelled to Pachuca, Mexico to work in the silver mines. As well as mining knowledge, they brought something else with them, soccer.

Cornish miners helped form what became Pachuca in 1892, widely recognized as Mexico’s first football club, helping ignite a passion for the game that now lives across an entire nation.

Today, The World Cup comes to both Texas and Mexico. As we prepare to welcome the world once again, it feels incredibly special to reflect on that connection.

Kernow Storm FC, our Cornish roots are part of who we are. But so is our Texas community, including our incredible families, players and coaches that help shape our club every single day from many cultures and heritages.

Soccer has always crossed oceans, languages and borders.

From Cornwall, to Pachuca, to Texas.

Kernow Storm Summer Soccer Camp 2026 ⚽️

We wrapped up our annual Kernow Storm Summer Soccer Camp in Granbury this past week, and what an incredible week it was!

A total of 136 campers, age 6-14 joined us for a week filled with skill development, training, competition, and fun. It was great to see so many young players working hard, improving their game, and building friendships along the way.

A special thank you goes out to our coaches, coaches assistants & volunteers. Your hard work, dedication, and passion for developing young players are making a lasting impact on our community. The time and effort you invest each year continue to help grow the soccer culture in Granbury and the surrounding areas.

We are proud of every camper who came out, worked hard, and represented the spirit of Kernow Storm.

Thank you to all the players, families, coaches, assistants, and volunteers who made this year’s camp such a success. See yall next week at open sessions and tryouts!!!
