Who am I? Emily Rumack, a San Fernando Valley native, is also a graduate from the University of California, Irvine with a B.F.A. in Dance Performance. Trained in dance since the age of three, she was originally introduced to Pilates through Jennifer Wilson in order to strengthen her dancing technique and address her scoliosis. From the start, she fell in love with the form. As someone who loves dance and movement, Pilates appeals to her because it allows for one to truly be in tune with their bodies-strengthening the whole body with long, lean muscles, while maneuvering choreographically through the various exercises. During her final year at UCI, she entered a certification program through “Studio du Corps” under Diane Diefenderfer, a disciple of Ron Fletcher. Diefenderfer often emphasized Pilates as being a unique exercise form with a focus on the “elegance of movement,” something that Emily tries to incorporate into her teaching. Additionally, Pilates has also been a means of recovery from her tumultuous history of disordered eating. Through this work, she discovered renewed strength and health, both physically and emotionally. She strives to help others become more self-empowered through tailored workouts that will not only allow each client to achieve their goals, but will also challenge the notion of what it means to exercise. She is glad to have come full circle with Pilates and is blessed to be able to share its benefits with others.

Modified Flying Eagle for - this feels so YUMMY!!

I am now 24 weeks pregnant, so instead of laying on my stomach, this kneeling modification allows me to do the exercise and continue work my back extension and Lats in a way that feels fantastic.

Seated Arm Springs and Forward Stretch with Roll Down Bar. I love the deep, low powerhouse connection these two movements offer. They are deceptively simple looking!
For Seated Arm Springs, I tend to turn out slightly with a soft bend in the knees to get out of my hip flexors and feel more engagement in my pelvic floor and low abdominals. .

This little series is guaranteed to bust your buns! 🍑 Grab that theraband, tie it snugly around your legs, and LET'S GO! .
10x clamshell
10x dog at a fire-hydrant
10x up-up, down-down (knee lifts, lower leg catches up, knee turns in to lower, low leg catches up)
10x side kick (don't drop from hip height!)
10x little lifts in line with the side-body
10x little lifts directly over the bottom knee .
Try to keep your bottom waist lifted and your top waist long. Then use your to eliminate movement in the pelvis. Then, use your breath to get through it all- you'll need it! (And for the record, that is why my mouth looks spazy)
