Magnificently situated in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, this Russell Breeden designed 18 hole golf course, opened for play in 1969. Village Greens, located on Asheville Highway in Gramling, South Carolina, features a challenging 6,372 yards from the longest tees and plays on bermuda grass to a par 72. The course was constructed on a 100 acre tract of farm land and every effort was mad

e to maintain the beauty of the landscape as well as utilizing existing lakes and ponds as water hazards. Pear trees along the fairway on hole #10 serve as a reminder of the original orchards which once stood on that site. Almost one half century later it would have been difficult for the founding organization, the Mountain Valley Development Company, to envision the growth and quality of the course as it now exists. Both the popularity of play and the sheer beauty of the Club House are a tribute to their efforts of so many years ago. Their ultimate goal was to provide the most affordable and enjoyable golfing experience possible, and that is exactly what they have accomplished

Village Greens Golf Club
Upcoming Greens Renovation
Dear Members and Valued Patrons,
Our Board of Directors and Golf Course management would like to inform you of an important improvement project to our greens. On June 1, We will begin the conversion of our greens to TifEagle Ultradwarf Bermuda. This renovation process is designed to improve overall playing conditions, turf health, and long-term sustainability.
Our greens were last renovated in 2003. Putting greens naturally accumulate organic matter and will develop surface inconsistencies that can affect firmness, drainage, and ball roll. The renovation work will involve removing and rebuilding sections of the greens, improving the rootzone, and establishing TifEagle Ultradwarf Bermuda. This will allow us to provide greens with consistent, optimal conditions and ensure the best possible playing surfaces for years to come.
We anticipate the renovation work to be completed by August 10. Along with the greens renovation, additional improvements will be made to selected tees, while some of our bunkers will undergo renovations or repairs, and drainage improvements will be made to #2 fairway.
During this time, the greens will be closed, and some play will continue with temporary greens to allow the turf to establish properly. One advantage that we have is the availability of River Falls Plantation for our members and patrons to play while we undergo renovation. We will facilitate any tee time you need for our sister course during this process. While we understand that this may cause some short-term inconvenience, these improvements are a critical investment in the long-term quality of the course. Our goal is to provide members and patrons with a complete golfing experience with a focus on smoother, healthier, and more consistent putting surfaces.
We appreciate your patience and support as we make these important improvements to the course. Our golf course staff will provide updates as the project progresses. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the golf shop or course management.
Thank you for your continued support of both Village Greens Golf Club and River Falls
Plantation.
All the best on the Fairways and Greens,
