Three, Two, One... LIFTOFF! 🚀

The Hot Air Balloon liftoff has signified the start of fall at Maize Valley for over 25 years. Half a dozen balloons will take to the sky against the backdrop of all of our fall harvest activities. This year's opening fall weekend, and hot air balloon liftoff, will be September 19-20, 4-7 pm.

The balloons will start to arrive in the late afternoon both days and usually lift off late afternoon – early evening. Lift off depends on the weather – not only on the surface, but also the winds aloft can affect if and when the balloons will lift. Normal admission rates apply this day, there are no refunds given if the balloons do not lift off.

Behind every balloon in the sky is a pilot who has dedicated countless hours to learning, training, preparing, and sharing a true love of ballooning.

To every pilot who joined us for this year’s Flag City BalloonFest, thank you for sharing your time, talent, knowledge, and beautiful balloons with our community.

You traveled to Findlay, attended early morning briefings, watched the weather closely, worked alongside your crews, adapted when conditions changed, and made safety the priority through every flight window.

Whether you were flying over the field, approaching a target, inflating for a glow, firing the burners for a candlestick, or taking time to answer questions from curious spectators, you helped make this weekend incredibly special.

We know how much time, work, and heart go into bringing a balloon to an event. It never goes unnoticed, and we are truly grateful that you chose to share your passion with us.

Flag City BalloonFest would not be the same without our pilots. Thank you for helping us create another weekend filled with color, excitement, and memories we will carry with us for years to come. ❤️🎈

Wow - how about that absolutely gorgeous morning launch!!! We were lucky enough to be able to photograph the balloons flying over Browns Lake (shout-out to our boat chauffeurs), and the views did not disappoint!
A few ballons did a splash-and-dash, and some pilots nailed their task - throwing their markers at the target!
