A little note from Katie 💙⛳️
My amazing fiancé, Jack, made this video for us to share at tomorrow night’s Best of Lorain County event, and watching Brentwood from above stopped me in my tracks.
When you’re busy running a business, fixing the next problem, planning the next event and dreaming up the next crazy idea, you sometimes forget to look around and see how far you’ve come.
Six years ago, Brentwood looked very different. The course was struggling, conditions were rough, and one of the biggest complaints I heard was that Brentwood simply didn’t feel welcoming anymore.
I heard plenty of predictions that the golf business was dying, Brentwood would be houses within a year, and I had absolutely no idea what I was doing.
To be fair, there were definitely days that last one was true. 😂
But I knew Brentwood could be more. Not just a better golf course, but a place people genuinely wanted to be.
Watching this video six years later, I think that’s exactly what we’ve built.
Today, Brentwood is golfers teeing off on a beautiful morning, kids learning the game for the first time, live music floating across the course, packed patios, cold drinks, dancing, laughter and friends who came for an hour and somehow stayed all night.
It’s serious golfers, terrible golfers, brand-new golfers and people who couldn’t tell you a birdie from a bogey but still love spending an evening here.
You don’t have to golf to belong at Brentwood.
That might be what I’m proudest of. And none of this happened because of one person.
Greg has been my best friend and partner through this entire journey. Our incredible team has grown into a family and somehow continues to survive my crazy ideas, long days, packed events and projects that inevitably turn into five more projects.
My parents, especially my dad, took one hell of a chance on me six years ago and gave me the freedom to think differently, make mistakes and keep going.
And Jack has become an enormous part of Brentwood’s growth. He has the same slightly weird, creative brain I do, so when I start with, “Okay, hear me out…” he usually doesn’t talk me out of it. He starts figuring out how we’re going to make it happen. ❤️
But the biggest part of this story is all of YOU.
Every golfer who gave us another chance. Every family who brought their kids. Everyone who came to a patio party, danced to a band, hit balls at the range, played in a league, booked an outing, told a friend about us or simply chose to spend part of their day here.
You helped bring Brentwood back to life.
And we’re nowhere near finished.
Heading into 2027, we’re adding our second indoor Foresight simulator bay, expanding lessons and custom club fittings, bringing you more music and events, investing even more into the course, growing our First Tee opportunities and dreaming up plenty more ways to make Brentwood better.
Six years ago, I thought my job was to help save a golf course.
Watching this video made me realize we were actually building a place for people. A place to golf, listen to music, laugh, relax, make memories and belong.
Tomorrow night, Brentwood is incredibly proud to be represented at Best of Lorain County as a finalist for Best Golf Course and Best Music Venue.
And honestly, those two categories together might tell our story better than anything I could write.
We’re still a golf course. We just decided a golf course could be a whole lot more. 💙⛳️🎶
