It's a win-win kind of thing when you get to be working on your own ride route, while at the same time conditioning for riding on someone else's ride route. I'm so excited to finally be riding in the American River Classic this weekend. The Souzas have been so helpful to me as a new ride manager, and they're so supportive of our ride. I can't wait to get to spend time with them and enjoy their endurance ride. Who else will be there?

I spent another weekend out on the ride route. It was a bit toasty in the middle of the day, but shade and a light breeze made it not too bad. The new loops are looking good. I'm pleased to announce that thanks to our growing relationship with the largest private land owner we work with, we now have access to more areas. This means more loops not just out and backs, and more secluded peaceful and beautiful areas to enjoy.

Emilie and I (mostly Emilie) also spent a lot of time updating the website and getting the Jotform ready to go. Because registration for the endurance ride opens today 😮😃 If all goes well the Jotform will be active by 8 PM tonight.

Thank you so much for supporting our ride. We're continuing to learn and improve as we go. Slowly we're making progress with the Forest Service and private land owners to improve the routes. Have a great day and week, and don't forget to get registered for the ride after this evening. We'll make another post later with the website link.

Holy cow! How is it June already? I hope everyone's riding season is going great so far. I spent the weekend on the endurance ride route again. The new stuff is pretty nice in my opinion. One loop on private property has already been approved, still waiting on an answer from the Forest Service about the other new loop. Thanks Britteny for joining me on Sunday to be a guinea pig on the new stuff, it was fun 😄

I had a wonderful weekend riding many miles on the new planned route of the endurance ride. I'm anxiously waiting to hear if the Forest Service will give us permission to use everything I have planned, I sure hope they do because I think it's pretty amazing.

NorCal has had some interesting weather this month. Some snow and rain in the high country. Unfortunately not enough to increase the snowpack by much, but we'll take what we can get. Here's a few recent pictures from the outskirts of the Lost Sierra and surrounding areas.
How's the weather been where you are?
I'm sure looking forward to the nice weather this weekend to hit the trails.

For those who like updates on progress with the endurance ride, here you go. For the first time this year I got to ride part of the route this weekend. I've been out there on foot a few times, but it's now dry enough to ride. Typically the snow and mud are not gone until late spring or early summer, but this year is an exception. It was a lovely Sunday stroll on our new and improved loop. The "Sugar Daddy" loop (yes there's a story to that silly name) is about 95% ready for the ride, it just needs a little branch trimming.

I love this beautiful loop and I hope our riders will too. And wonderful news! On Friday we had a meeting with the owner of the largest sections of private land we use, and we were granted permission to put in some new trails. 😃 This was especially important for this particular loop because I wanted to bypass a steep rocky section. Now we have a gorgeous singletrack section made just for our riders to avoid a tricky spot. The Sugar Daddy is pretty sweet 😋 in my opinion anyway 😁

One loop checked and nearly ready to go, and soon we'll be hitting all the other sections of the route. We've got a little storm happening right now, but unfortunately it's not expected to bring much precipitation. Good for trail work and riding, bad for overall forest conditions.

Enjoy the pictures. Sorry that the seasonal creeks will be dry by summer.

Oh boy!! Spring is in the air 😁 This Friday is the first day of spring, and on Saturday the West Region has our first endurance ride of the year. We had such a mild winter for the most part, and I had been able to do a lot of conditioning rides on my horses, so I was excited to kick off the endurance ride season this weekend at Rides of March. But alas...my horses had other ideas and we've now had some minor setbacks. I plan to be at ROM as a volunteer, so hopefully I'll see some of you there.

All that snow we got from the one significant storm last month is quickly disappearing. In the lower elevations it's long gone, and at this rate it won't be long until we can ride in the high country.

On Sunday, Britteny and I, and our mutts went for a hike in the ride area. I'm pleased to say we finally found an alternate route around a very steep part on one of the loops. This is on private property so hopefully it will be easier than working with the Forest Service to get permission to make a new trail.

There's still a little snow and mud out there, but it won't be long until it's dry enough to hit the hills with the horses. I can't wait.

Enjoy these springtime photos. The ones labeled LSER are on the ride route, all others are from the surrounding area.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day ☘️
