UPDATE: Thank you all for the generous offers to help! We have filled all volunteer positions at this time, but feel free to reach out if you are willing to be backup in case of a last minute cancellation. VOLUNTEERS ARE AWESOME!
Hi friends, we're in need of a few more volunteers for the endurance ride this coming Saturday August 29th, near Clio CA.
We recently got permission to increase the number of riders we can take, so we will need more volunteers to ensure that everything runs smoothly even with more people. :)
We are happy to have your help even for just a few hours if you are available. Here are some of the things that we could use more help with:
Trail spotters: Our trail spotters will drive out into the forest and wait at critical intersections to check off the participants as they go by and direct them to the correct trail. Trail spotters are welcome to bring a book, camp chair, and snacks to enjoy while they wait for riders to come along. Trail spotters are needed for 4-8 hour shifts please.
Pulse takers: We need 2 more people that know how to take the pulse on a horse. We want to ensure that we don't get a line backed up as riders return for their hold and the finish line. Pulse takers will be right next to or in camp the entire time and can do a 2, 4, 6, or 8 hour shift.
Vet Scribe: We have added a third vet for our event, so we need at least one more person to fill out the cards with information as the vet calls it out. This happens in camp, and we have a shade canopy available for the vets and scribes. Scribes can do a 2, 4, 6, or 8 hour shift.
Timers: We would like to find 2 more people willing to help at the hold and finish lines. We are looking for people from 12-3pm and 3-7pm.
Floaters: We would welcome having a few people willing to cover breaks for all the other volunteers. Many hands make light work!
Pooper Scooper: We are looking for someone able to man a wheelbarrow and manure rake for a small portion of the race that goes through a neighborhood. We want to be good neighbors! This position is needed from 1pm-5pm.
Volunteers can camp for free with us and enjoy a complimentary grab-and-go breakfast, a sandwich lunch, snacks, and a taco salad dinner complete with drink and dessert.
If you are available and would like to spend the day with fun people and horses, please email us or click this link to indicate what you would be available to help us with. Our ride couldn't run without awesome volunteers like you!
