⛳️ We have a new Golf Course Superintendent for you to meet!
Justin Bietz has arrived at Crowfield from the private Kiawah Island Club River and Cassique golf courses. He spent five years as an assistant superintendent at the Kiawah courses, and also worked at one of the Cliffs courses in the Upstate after graduating from Clemson University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Agronomy. He has arrived with the valuable experience needed to be a success.
For the next few months, Justin will gain even more experience as he learns firsthand from our longtime Superintendent Todd Biegger, who is retiring in January.
Justin calls his new position that will oversee the 200-acre property “a perfect opportunity,” and says he has enjoyed his first few days on the job. “I like everyone I’ve worked with so far … it’s been a great first week,” he said.
Crowfield General Manager Troy Sanders called the opportunity for Justin and Todd to work together for the next six months a beneficial one: “We are so fortunate to have this overlap … there is an incredible amount to learn.”
Crowfield received a tremendous response from interested applicants for the job.
“During the interview process, Justin rose to the top with his experience and calm demeanor,” Troy said. “He is ready for the next step in his career and we are fortunate to have him join our team. We are looking forward to a long-term commitment from Justin, and are excited to see what he is able to do with the course. If you see him around, please say hello!”
While Justin wasn’t familiar with Crowfield’s golf course before pursuing the superintendent position, that has already changed. He said he “loves the course,” and his vision for Crowfield is a well-maintained course and layout. He said his favorite part of the job is the instant gratification and payoff he receives when updating or improving all aspects of the course, every day.
Welcome aboard, Justin!
