One week from today, we will face the Phoenix of East Nashville in the first round of the Sulphur Dell tournament. Rippavilla Plantation. 9am. Come cheer on your Travellers!

Twelve Days to Sulphur Dell!!

Day 8... we highlight the Phoenix VBBC of East Nashville. An extremely talented group of gentlemen that find their home field in the confines of Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park. The Grey & Red are one of the most recognizable uniforms and their play is just as fierce.

The East Nashville nine finish the regular season with a 4-7 record which places them in the #8 seed for the Sulphur Dell Cup.

For the Phoenix team player highlight...

NAILS!!
Since joining the Phoenix, while sitting out the first year, Nails kept stats, practiced and waited for a roster spot. He gives 110% every pitch.

From his Captain, “He works harder than anyone I have ever had the pleasure to share the garden with over the past 58 years.”

After giving his all, Nails will often do a quick change and umpire a match or two. He is a true Vintage Base Ball ju**ie. Hardcore to the bone. You don’t have NAILS as a nickname if you’re not!!

You can see Nails and his fellow Phoenix club in action for their first match at the Sulphur Dell Cup on Saturday, Sept 7th at 9:00am as they face the Brentwood Travellers.

As always, games are FREE admission! Bring a chair, visit the multiple food trucks on site and enjoy Civil War era barehanded base ball 1864 style!!
No Gloves... No Spittin... No Slidin... No Swearin.

Twelve Days to Sulphur Dell!!

Day 9... we highlight the Travellers Vintage Base Ball Club of Brentwood. The 2015 Sulphur Dell Champions are always a tough match. Their home field at Ravenswood in Brentwood provides a beautiful backdrop to the Travellers mighty shots with the willow and swift gathering of onions.
The Travellers finish the 2019 season with a record of 4-7 and the #9 seed in the Sulphur Dell Cup.

The Travellers featured player is...

‘Hondo’
Although new to vintage base ball, or baseball in general, Hondo can be found playing 2nd sack or in the outer garden area. He is an avid Blue Raider fan, when not in the stands of Johnny “Red” Floyd
Stadium or watching his favorite movie “Hondo”, you can find him making his teammates laugh and enjoying his new found love of base ball.

You can see Hondo and his fellow ballists in action for their first match at the Sulphur Dell Cup on Saturday, Sept 7th at 9:00am as they face Phoenix of East Nashville.

As always, games are FREE admission! Bring a chair, visit the multiple food trucks on site and enjoy Civil War era barehanded base ball 1864 style!!

Since the Quicksteps v Travellers at 2:00 today is the only TAoVBB match of the day scheduled, we are opening up the cornfields for a rag tag match at 3:30. All TAoVBB teams are invited to come and play a fun spirited match (even the Franklin Farriers Vintage Base Ball Club).

If you’ve wanted to give bare handed base ball a try but haven’t had your chance, feel free to join us! Since this is not a scheduled league match, any crank can come out and enjoy a day of Base Ball.

In a true nail-biter, the Travellers came from behind mid game and clawed our way through the 9th inning to get the win against the Emmett Machinists from Knoxville. It’s an honor to share the field with such true gentlemen.

Great day for vintage base ball! Fun to finally take the field since last September! My Travellers overtook the Distillers yesterday in a hard-fought match up at Mansker's Station!

It was a beautiful day at Mansker's Station. The Travellers prevailed over the Highland Rim Distillers, 11-2! Huzzah to a great defensive effort by both clubs!
