Heart of Yoga

Heart of Yoga Yoga has origins from over 5,000 years ago. Yoga means to "yoke" , unite, "bind". We offer Hatha yoga in an intimate and joyful setting.

Traditional yoga for Strength and Clarity of Mind and Body, asana, meditation, workshops, continuing credit for YTTs, small classes and quality instruction for beginners and experienced yogis. The tradition of yoga was passed down from teacher to student over the years and the yoga we see today is a blend of traditional vs modern interpretation called Hatha. Heart of Yoga's goal is to provide a variety of class styles, from beginning to advanced in a safe environment where students feel nurtured and guided by a professional staff of dedicated yoga practitioners.

Yoga can help with dementia…
Yoga is more than stretching or stress reduction.
It combines movement, breathwork, and focused attention simultaneously.
Each component targets different brain systems at the same time.
According to studies and ongoing research, the sum of those effects appears to be greater than any singular component.

Consistent yoga practice shows increased gray matter in the hippocampus. The amygdala is the brain's threat detection anud fear processing center.
Chronic stress keeps it in a state of heightened activation and a consistent
yoga practice is linked to reduced amygdala reactivity over time.
The more years of practice, the greater the gray matter volume

More research is ongoing to confirm how yoga keeps our brains from deteriorating.
Below is a link to a recent NIH study. I find the above information consistent with the ancient teachings of yoga and it can be a sustainable practice for all physical levels. Even folks with limited mobility. You just need to find the right class for you!
