For Black History Month the Texas History Room with the Goliad County Library is sponsoring a lecture by Dr. Raymond Starr on the freedman's town of Cologne. The town was founded by freed slaves after the Civil War when freed slaves suffered immensely. It is a story of courage, pride and highlights the strengths and achievements of the freed African American slaves. Cologne's story is an important part of the story of Goliad County.
