Building engines for turbocharged applications requires meticulous attention to detail and specialized considerations to ensure reliability, performance, and longevity under increased stress from forced induction. Key aspects to consider are strengthened internals, a lower compression ratio, enhanced cooling system, turbo sizing, upgraded head gaskets, upgraded head studs, injector sizing/ patterns, other fueling considerations, tuning/engine management, exhaust system, and intake system. All of this coupled with an emphasis on quality parts, cutting corners and using cheaper materials/products is a recipe for disaster.
