Our women’s team took 3rd place in the Women’s Jackleg! The men’s team also had great performances in their events yesterday! Huge thank you to University of Nevada-Reno and the Mackay Muckers for hosting such a fantastic games! Also, we would like to thank Virginia City, Nevada for being so welcoming! We are excited to be bringing the 42nd Annual International Collegiate Mining Games to Golden, Colorado in March 2020!

Our women’s team took 3rd place in the Women’s Jackleg! The men’s team also had great performances in their events yesterday! Huge thank you to University of Nevada-Reno for hosting such a fantastic games! Also, we would like to thank Virginia City, Nevada for being so welcoming! The Men’s team began their competition today. They are competing against 17 teams from around the world. Team Members, Stephen Piurkowsky, Aaron Rickey, Randy Haley, Camden Fraser, and Seth Edelen competed in the mucking event and completely filled a one-tom ore cart in 3 minutes and 13.41 seconds. Team Members, Aaron Rickey and Seth Edelen, competed in the jackleg event and drilled 2 1/2 four foot steels or 113 9/16 inches. They will be competing in Hand Steel, Gold Pan, Swede Saw, and Track Stand through the late morning and afternoon. ⚒
Women’s team members, Marie Hetherington and Alex Murray, will be competing in the women’s survey event at 3 PM PT. ⚒

The Women’s team had a fantastic showing in the Mucking Event. They completed the event in 3:05.88 and are currently ranked 3rd with 3 more women’s teams to go. Only 101 days until our teams will be competing in the 41st International Mining Games. They will be traveling to Virginia City, Nevada. The teams are very excited to get the chance to compete and see the rich mining history in Virginia City.

It's y'all!! Each Monday we will be doing a spotlight on a Mining Competition Event! This week we are spotlighting TRACK STAND! This is a team event which uses 5 team members and a coach. The team must assemble a length of track, which is then judged, then disassembled for time. This event requires communication between the team members and the coach! If you are interested in trying out track stand, feel free to come by practice from 5 - 7 PM tonight! We practice behind the Earth Materials Institute on the Colorado School of Mines campus!
