Your hips don’t spin — they shift back and around.
Feel your trail hip move behind you to create space and power in the backswing.

Warming up before golf is essential for both performance and injury prevention. Here’s why:

🧠 1. Prepares Your Body and Mind

A warm-up increases blood flow to your muscles, raises body temperature, and primes your nervous system — helping your body move more efficiently. It also gets your mind focused and ready to execute precise movements like timing and rhythm in your swing.

💪 2. Increases Mobility and Range of Motion

Golf demands fluid rotation and stability through your hips, shoulders, and spine. A proper warm-up helps loosen tight areas, allowing for a fuller, smoother swing and reducing the risk of strains or pulls.

🏌️ 3. Boosts Swing Speed and Power

When your muscles are activated and your joints are mobile, you can generate more clubhead speed with less effort. Dynamic warm-ups like medicine ball throws or band rotations can “wake up” your core and help translate strength into speed.

⚠️ 4. Reduces Risk of Injury

Cold, stiff muscles are more prone to injury. By warming up, you increase elasticity in your muscles and tendons — making it less likely you’ll tweak your back, shoulders, or elbows mid-round.

⏱️ 5. Improves Consistency Early in the Round

Many golfers take several holes to “find their swing.” A good warm-up eliminates that sluggish start by ensuring you’re ready to play from the first tee.
