FishChinook.com Guided salmon and steelhead fishing on Southern Oregon Coastal rivers with an emphasis on the Rogue

Justin has been fishing all his life on lakes, rivers, and streams around Oregon and Idaho. After spending 15+ years in Corporate America, Justin has come back to focus on his primary passion: salmon and steelhead. Justin grew up working on his Great Grandparents ranch about 10 miles south of Gold Beach in Pistol River, OR. He is a descendent of one of the pioneering families of the Gold Beach are

a (his Great Grandfather was actually born on the Smith Ranch where the present day Half Moon Lodge stands). Justin is also proudly a US Navy veteran having served as a Nuclear Machinist’s Mate Second Class petty officer – MM2(SS) Nuclear – aboard the USS Helena SSN 725, one of the nation’s elite Los Angeles 688 class fast attack submarines. From fishing around the Northwest, Justin brings with him a wealth of fishing techniques and knowledge accumulated over the years, and is quickly becoming one of the areas premier guides. His equipment is top-notch, and his knowledge of the area and history will keep you fascinated long after your fishing experience has passed.

Rogue River Fishing Conditions

THEY'RE HERE!!!

After a lengthy delay where the fish didn't seem to participate much, fish have started stacking up in the Rogue Bay. That means IT'S TIME!! Have some openings for the rest of July, a few in August, and plenty of openings in September at the moment. If you're looking to get in on some of the best tasting salmon on the west coast (and the best fighting), now is the time to book!

Any questions, give me a call - 541.441.0559. Remember, if I don't answer, leave a voicemail and/or text me and I'll get back to you as soon as I can (but it might wait until that evening).

Let's get it on!!!!

We will be beginning trolling the bay very soon. Still have dates available for June, July, a few dates in August, and September. Expecting similar numbers to last year, although the report says there will be more 4-5 year old fish (read that as BIGGER FISH).

Dates are starting to fill up, so if you're looking to get in on the action for Rogue Bay, give me a call and we'll get it rockin :)

Forecast is for the river to be dropping for at least the next week. That means fishing should only be improving. Weather forecast is looking decent for the next week as well. I DO have openings - if you're looking for those early springers, NOW would be a good time to confirm a spot :)

Status update: just when we start seeing fish numbers, a storm is moving in with sustained 30mph winds and heavy rain for the next 2 days. It's gonna be wet for the next week at least with rain in the forecast, but that's not going to stop the fish, or the fishing - that's why they make rain gear :)

We are now taking bookings for this coming Saturday and beyond. If you're not afraid of a little weather and want to get in on the springer action - might want to call now and get on the calendar :)

It looks like we're going to get a break in the weather Mon-Tuesday so we'll know more about what's going on with the spring run then. Stay tuned.....

Just as a reminder - this was a 32 lb hatchery fish from 2023. I expect similar results this year :)
