For more than a decade, Marvin and Carol Sakamoto have been building strength together with CrossFit.

Their journey hasn’t always been easy. Early on, Carol faced hip dysplasia, and more recently, Marvin suffered a stroke. Through both challenges, the strength and fitness they built through CrossFit helped keep them strong, capable, and moving forward.

But their story is about more than physical strength.

At Sundown Crossfit, the Sakamotos have found a community that has been there through every step — coaches, owners, and fellow members who have supported, encouraged, and cheered them on along the way.

After more than 10 years, CrossFit has become part of their lives in a way that goes far beyond the hour they spend in the gym. It’s helped them build the capacity to navigate life’s challenges, and given them a community to lean on when they do.

For Marvin and Carol, getting stronger together has always been the goal. More than a decade later, they’re still living life with vibrance and doing the things they love.
