We've learned over the past few years how versatile the Punch Shot Rig can be. One great way to get some extra bites when fishing shallow cover and matted grass is to downsize your Punch Shot Rig. Pair the rig with a smaller hook and soft plastic, and trim the weight wire short. The result is similar to that of a Jika Rig. You'll have a compact bait that's heavy enough to easily flip and pitch that pressured fish can't resist.

Do you ever throw a Bubba Shot (Power Dropshot) during the Spring instead of a Texas Rig or jig? There's something about a bait sitting a few inches off the bottom around shallow spawning cover and post-spawn transition areas that bass can't seem to resist.
