Softball tears...
I have seen these tears for years!
Gets the winning hit, throws the winning Pitch, makes a game saving catch, yes tears of success! Tears when you lose, only because you gave it all you had. Those tears are part of building character.
I have shared these tears for years and rejoiced in our little girls accomplishments.
There's also a Melancholy side to their tears....
When they stand in the box and strike out or give up that hit that sends them packing their softball bags.. Not tears of defeat but the tears of a yelling parent, the yelling of a unsympathetic Coach.
That tough ride home.
Our little girls give their all, they train for success but that may not always be enough for some...
This is the part of the game we as Parents must delete!
WE must show our girls that win or lose, we support them, encourage them, LOVE them.
A hug, a kiss on her teary face will make them understand the value of a loss. To yell, to make that face when they throw a pitch over the catchers head, that dreaded ride home will only make our little girls dislike the game.
I say this as a Father, a coach, Mentor, I say this as a Parent who has given my own little girl that look of discuss after a bad Pitch or swing of the bat.
Let's give them the high 5's , the ' hey kid you did your best'
Let's keep our little girls in Love with this great game of Softball!
Lets build relationships now that will carry on for a very long time.
This is not applicable to all Parents, many do a GREAT job.
There's no doubt that we do want them to succeed, but we must understand that they are young and as Adults we must only give encouragement and Compassion to our Little Girls. Let's get rid of the negative....
softball Tears.
